Perfect northeast rod for a variety of fishing applications. I use it to throw heavy plugs for stripers and blues, deep jig sea bass and tog and chunk live bait. I have mine paired with a Calcutta D and nothing phases it. Super light, long butt section for tucking under your arm and strong as a telephone pole with a light enough tip for good action.
Pros
  • Strong
  • Lightweight
  • Versatile
  • Sensitive
Cons
  • A little expensive

Absolute Garbage!
July 14, 2019
I bought 2 G Loomis PBR785C rods. The first one one snapped in half the third time I used it. The second one snapped the first time I used it. Both broke at the exact same spot. I don't know what G Loomis changed, but I will never buy this trash again!

Light and strong

I really like this rod, I got the 902s on sale for half off and really wasn’t sure how it would be, but I’m really glad I got it! It’s light, has a good feel to grip and use, and has more power than it initially feels like it has. I was a little worried it was too light for snook around piers & docks but it has proven to be a great Rodger them. If I needed another rod I would get it full price.
Pros
  • Light, Power, feel

But I caught many 10-20lb yellowtails no problem!!!
Pros
  • Got strong backbone!!!
Cons
  • Rod rear handle is kind of fat

Which of the G.Loomis rods can you use for trolling a 16oz lead? I have eight or nine ok rods, but ready to start buying nice ones for myself and my next generation of fishermen to enjoy. Thank you.
1 Answer
G Loomis really doesn't have a rod to trolling with 16 oz. Seeker makes an excellent trolling rod. The Seeker Super Seeker Stand Up Rods would be a solid option for you.

Can you use these for dropping 16 ounces of lead for drifting eels
1 Answer
These rods are a bit too light for dropping 16 ounces of lead. If you are fishing that much weight, I would recommend going with a different rod.

What size reel is recommended for the 7ft 15-30 (PBR844s) spin rod? What is the best application for this rod?
1 Answer
I would recommend using a 4000 of 5000 size reel with that rod. If I had one, I would use it for lighter bucktailing for flounder and throwing lures to striper and blues off of a kayak.

Which Conventional Model would you recommend for live lining bunker and eels, some light chunking, maybe trolling a tube and worm? This would be for Blues and Stripers. Thanks! Also, what reel would you recommend for the rod?
1 Answer
We suggest going with (GLO-0225). It will give you great sensitivity and power while still being incredibly light. As for a reel, check out the Avet SX or MXL.
