Fishing east coast jetties and piers with this and it is great for smaller blues, fluke and strippers. Fits in a Car. Paired with a 5000 Shimano reel and it’s a great combo. I’d say it’s sweet spot is 3/4 to 1.5 ounces. Anything over 2 ounces and I would jump up a size.

really nice rod made by g. loomis. i use it to throw 2-4oz plugs and lure which it handles with ease. The MF action helps get some of the heavier plugs moving while still reacting well to hookset. Pairs perfectly with a smaller size twin power SW for the inshore application i use it for.

Always been a fan of higher end, hand made, production rods. G-Loomis fits that description well. Having said that, DO NOT expect speedy warrantee for manufacture defects. It's great to have a sports car, if you get to enjoy it. If it's always in the shop, that's a bummer.
Warrantee defect on a rod after 2 months, and it's been with G-Loomis since Sept. with no anticipated replacement date.
Don't buy a G-Loomis, unless you want to frame it on your wall.

The line would be a little to heavy for the rod but it can handle 60 grams of weight. Weight of the rod is not listed.

Both of these reels would pair well. The Vanford has 1+7 bearings and 20lbs of drag, while the Stradic has 1+6 bearings and 19.8 lbs of drag. Their spool capacity is identical and the difference in total weight is only 1.5 oz, the lighter reel being the Vanford. Its all up to preference, both reels are guaranteed to perform at a high level and are a great choice for freshwater to inshore applications. It really comes down to whether you want a black reel or a silver reel to pair with your G Loomis.
