Well made reel, imo none better than this. Smooth, lots of adjustment for fishery specific strikes and lock downs. Plenty of drag. I have 4 of these reels.

Perfect setup so far for jigging. I may remove some line for using artificial lures but want to test this setup first.

Fourth AVET have owned and as usual it came out of the box in perfect condition. Handle is very comfortable and overall functionality is smooth. Feature of this reel is the magnetic control setting which helps to prevent those dreaded back lashes and time wasted fighting with unsnarling the mess.

This reel comes with awesome anodizing in whatever color you order the black is very nice. This reel fits 500 yards of 65lb PowerPro very nicely. The lever drag is not super precise but it is a cheaper reel than the version with the drag plate so it is an even trade off. For the size of the reel the drag is fine.

Avet MXL 5.8 reel

The Avet MXL 5.8 single speed is an excellent reel for inshore fishing in South Florida. I run these reels on a 12-20 or 15-30 Connely rod. For top line fishing for kings, Mackerel, they are perfect. We also use them for inshore reef fishing, Yellow Tail Snapper, small grouper, sheepshead, Mutton etc. Great overall reel, light weight in your hand, plenty of drag and smooth uptake.

Cast like a dream

Took this reel right after wind it with 500 yards of 40lb braid and 100plus of 30lbs mono top shot. After adjusting the magnet to half way this baby cast 100 yard with just a little loose line when no using my thumb to cero when I stop it with it. I use a Daiwa 10 ft Emcast with 4 ounce weight.
