GREAT REEL WITH EXCELLENT FEATURES BUT...

Bought this reel about 2 months ago and have taken it out twice. Compact and light enough to handle fishing with it all day paired with an Edge Rod FSC LRR 7630 for flylining. I'm not exactly proficient with using lever drag but the hookups set nicely and if more power was needed, the drag can be advanced further to really lock it down.
The only thing that caused a problem for me was the J-Braid 4 strand 65lb was actually thin enough to slip into the gap between the spool and housing. That caused the reel to bind and unable to free spool. My fault for putting too much line on and an easy fix by stripping off some line. Otherwise, powerful little reel, I can't wait to see how it performs in low gear for bottom fishing.

Very nice reel. Mine is rigged with 65# Nomad and a phoenix rod. Just a great combination. The reel is great to throw and has very smooth, very strong drag just built for big Tuna.

Looking for a light weight 2 speed bait caster to match with 20# test for finicky bluefin up to 120#, standup West Coast style fishing. Currently have an Avet 2 speed, JX6/3 lever drag, and
Daiwa Saltina lever drag, both matched with 40# both a bit heavy as I get older. More questions. I usually rig with a 10' fluorocarbon top, Seaguar Blue Label, same test.
I hear there are newer manufacturers, better choices and that it would be best to use a longer top to avoid any casting effect as the connection travels through the top rod guide
(I tie a pretty tight so not much of an issue) and just cutoff a segment to avoid retying as the line gets worn after multiple strikes. Your thoughts please.just My 1st time at Tackle Direct.
