Tsunami Carbon Shield II Spinning Rods are designed with Fuji K Guides with Fazlite inserts. Made with feather light IM7 graphite blanks with D16 nanotech and unique carbon fiber design. D16 Nanotech blank technology consists of multi-directional layers of IM7 carbon fiber that have been injected with nano resin and wrapped in 8 different angles which evenly disperse flexural force in 16 directions. This combination provides an extremely lightweight blank that resists twist and adds hoop strength. These rods make casting to, hooking, and fighting big fish as easy as it gets. Great choice whether you are casting soft plastics to striped bass in the northeast or using live bait for redfish and other inshore saltwater species in the south.

  • Anodized aluminum reel seat with stainless steel hoods and custom locking ring
  • Premium cork grips
  • Unique carbon fiber design
  • IM7 Graphite blank with D16 Nanotech
  • Fuji K Guides with Fazlite inserts

If Skinner likes it you will too. For me this is a great rod for smaller stripers, cod, and other fish on the smaller side of things. Great feeling to the rod.

Great rod for the money! Also the green matches my boat so that’s another bonus!

First, Tackle Direct makes sure your rod will arrive safe and intact. The packaging is superb! Next, the rod itself feels great - looks great. Admittedly, I have not used the rod yet, but I think if you are looking for a rod that won't fatigue you but has some backbone - this is it. Very light rod, but the butt has the strength. I'm looking forward to using it on my next Fluke and Porgy trip.
Pros
  • Light weight, but strong where needed. Color, grips - feels great.
Cons
  • Again, I haven't used it yet, but from what I see so far - no cons.

Perfect Rod For Inshore
July 16, 2022
I’ve been using these for a few years. They look nice with sea-foam green. They are sensitive. They cast well. They are strong enough for big Stripers and Mahi-Mahi. I matched both of my rods with Daiwa BG 3500 reels.
Pros
  • Cost, Looks, Sensitivity, Strength

Beefy whip of a rod
April 9, 2022
This rod is great for casting lures between 2 and 4 ounces very far. Has tremendous power, best bang for your buck. I watched a 70lb tarpon get wooped in Less than 3 minutes on this rod.
Pros
  • Double footed guides, reel seat back stop lock nut.
Cons
  • Doesn't have a hook keeper.

this is a great rod, strong on the fish. i put bot an 8000 shield and a 6000 saltx on it. surprisingly i did not like my 5000 evict on it very much.

rod turns fish very well, but it did not like to cast anything over 3 oz even though it is rated for 4
Pros
  • strong, light. nice flex
Cons
  • does not like to cast anything over 3 oz even though it is rated for 4

Finesse with power

I have the medium light, it's perfect for throwing lures 1/4oz all the way down to 1/16th oz. It's got enough back bone to wrestle fish in the 20" range no problem. I have mine paired with a Shimano stradic fl 2500, added a geomexus power knob, the chrome reel and the chrome seat on the rod look really cool together.
Pros
  • Light and strong, looks amazing.
Cons
  • Lure ratings not exactly accurate in my opinion, i wouldn't throw anything heavier than a 1/4oz

I love these rod and have had great success with them. They come at a great price point and have yet to disappoint.
Pros
  • Everything.
Cons
  • The eyelets are very small for knots to ride thru but you get use to it very quickly.
