Perfect rod for tog jig
April 18, 2022
I have the 7foot medium heavy spinning rod paired with the tsunami evict 3000 reel spooled with 15lb power pro v2 super slick. Probably one of the best tog jigging set ups you can buy, and at a reasonable cost. Super soft tip, tons of backbone and super light. If you see the picture attached with the review, the rod is in the holder on the gunwale on the left.
Pros
  • Light, soft sensitive tip and tons of backbone.
Cons
  • None

Durable light rod. Again issues on a piece that isnt glued properly on all of its rod. I own 8 of these rods mix of cast and spinning and the issue has happened to 5 so far. The piece is a fitting on the handle above reel seat. Super glue easy fix but shouldnt happen on 5 rods that are $125+

Love the rod hate the guides
January 10, 2022
I love the strength flexibility and sensitivity of this rod. I just can’t get past the Fuji guides. Maybe just me (maybe I have sloppy style?) but I am constantly getting the braided line hung up in the upper guides. Seems the upper guides have one mounting foot and more of an angled area for the line to hang up and wrap around the eyes versus the lower guides with two mounting points.

Bought both casting and spinning version but was only able to return the unused spinning. May consider changing out the upper guides or selling the rod. Very frustrating.
Pros
  • Strong, light and flexible - lots of guides
Cons
  • Smaller guides with single-foot mounting snags and hangs up braided line too easily. Larger, two-feet guides have no issues.

Don’t underestimate this “Noodle”

It maybe thin and soft action but it has a strong backbone! This is my light jigging rod for fluke, seabass and Tog. But I am able to land Blues inbthe 10lb range.
Pros
  • Light and sensitive
Cons
  • I would prefer butt is longer for jigging.

Well versatile rod

Good for piers and boat. Light but strong back bone. For it's size it can handle a lot of weight.
Cons
  • The top ring above the handled falls apart on all of my slimwave rods. I just super glue it back.

I asked a previous question about pairing with a saltist 3000.  You guys recommend ed the 6-6 heavy.  I went ahead and purchased a Penn Slammer 3500 from You.  Would You still stick with the 6.6 ft heavy with this reel?
1 Answer
Yes, the heavy would also pair great with that H model.

What would pair best with a saltist 3000 for tog

jigging on party boats?

1 Answer
The 6ft 6 H would be great for togging on party boats. It is great for those shallow waters with minimal current using 1-2oz jigs. Also is great for the deeper jigging and heavier currents when you need 3-4oz jigs.

Hi I own a Shimano Torium 16hglh which rods would work best

Thanks

1 Answer
Depends on the application however the TSU-0221 would pair nicely with your Torium. This is a popular model in the slim waves because of the light over all build but being able to load the rod with anything from 3/4 to 4 oz.

I fish for fluke ratitanbay/sandyhook area bay and ocean. Which one would be good for ocean fishing??
1 Answer
Depends on if you prefer a spinning or casting rod when you fish. So if you were looking for a casting rod we would recommend the tsu-0221. This is a 6ft 6in length with the 3/4-4oz lure rating keeps sensitivity while fluke fishing and gives you versatility on baits depending on depth and current! If you are looking for a spinning rod the TSU-0222 is the 6ft that can handle up to 2 oz which would be great for a lighter tackle rod and a lot of fun. If you needed something slightly longer and heavier check out the TSU-0225!

I already own the 7,0 MH spinning rod and wanted to get another one, what would the 6,0 Spinning rod be good for?
1 Answer
The 6ft model would be perfect for back bays. Fluke fishing, top-water fishing for blues and striper. It handles up to 3oz so it also would work for bottom fishing for Tau-tog and sea-bass.

I am considering purchasing the 7foot medium heavy spinning rod for tog jigging. I tog primarily from party, charter and private boats. I was thinking of pairing the rod with the tsunami evict 3000 spinning reel. Just curious if this would be a good pairing or should I bump it up to the 4000 model?
1 Answer
Hi Joshua, I would recommend the Tsunami TSEVT4000 Evict Spinning Reel. This would pair nicely with the Tsunami Slimwave 7ft MH for tog jigging. https://www.tackledirect.com/tsunami-tsevt4000-evict-spinning-reel.html I also would recommend a Jigging World Nexus 701S-MH Spinning Rod as this has a little stronger backbone than the Tsunami to pull large tog out of structure. https://www.tackledirect.com/jigging-world-jw-nx701s-h-nexus-spinning-rod.html Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tsunami SWSPS601-M Slim Wave Spinning Rod will pair well with the Stradic 4000 and will be sufficient for most inshore species. Also could do the 7' Medium as well if you want a longer rod.

The 6' would match well with a 3000 sized reel however I wouldn't throw any lures over 1.5 oz with this rod.

the 7 MH  slim wave says line weight is up to 30lbs.  is that momo or braid.  i was looking to put on 40lb braid with 30lb leader on a 5000 reel.  will this rod be ok
1 Answer
The line rating refers to Braided line. It is not recommended to use heavier line than the rating however 40lb should be doable with this rod. You may lose some casting distance
