Huge bang for the buck!
June 30, 2022
This is my fourth Victory rod. The action is incredible. My go-to rod for live bait and finesse jigs for walleye. Super sensitive tip and plenty of backbone. Love this new series from St. Croix. Made in Park Falls, WI and comes with a 15 year warranty. Buy it, you won’t be disappointed!

Nice sensitivity and great backbone
June 3, 2022
I bought the VTS71MF as an all around rod for bass and the smaller channel catfish is the lakes around me. However, in trying to target these fish, I end up catching many smaller fish. The sensitivity is great, as I have been able to feel bites at a little over 50yds with the use of braid. I could feel the head shaking of the crappie I had hooked at that the mentioned 50yds, before it was overpowered by the rod. With the Stradic fl 3000 and 20lb braid this rod casts great.

The backbone of this rod is stiff enough that smaller fish are brought to surface and skip as they are reeled in, which I find kind of comical. As this rod is meant to be used for bass, it should provide the power needed to pull them out of any area.

Amazing Rod
March 9, 2022
This rod is a must for small hair (marabou) jigs and swimbaits. It's not built for sensitivity needed techniques. But, it will cast the lighter, smaller finesse baits with ease.
Pros
  • action
  • length
  • cost

NOT MADE FOR KAYAK USE. NOT AS SENSITIVE AS EXPRIDE. DOEN'T LOAD AS WELL AS SLX
December 22, 2021
Victory spinning 7'3 ML XF. I have hooked 7-8 fish and lost them all, just on his rod... Just this rod.. NOT my other rods. Same set-up on my Dawia Aird X, my Shimano SXL, my Abu Garcia Veritas, my Expride. The flex through the first four guides are very soft, so driving a hook into the fish mouth on drop shot can be difficult, even without a weed guard. The fish do not stay pinned. I confirmed this with St. Croix. Victory sensitivity is ok, not great, but ok.. its not like the sensitivity of my Expride. When, I put my Victory down and start using my SLX, I find myself being surprised how the load & sensitivity is better with the SLX. On all my spinning rods, I use 10lb braid to 8lb fluorocarbon. Lastly, St. Croix told me the Victory 7'3" Medium Extra Fast was not the rod for me on a Kayak, even though St. Croix shows a guy in a Kayak fishing this rod. They stated the tip was not right for a Kayak and I should look at a Mojo Yak opposed to this rod😢
Pros
  • Price point
  • Good Customer Service
Cons
  • 1. Doesn't load as well as Shimano SLX
  • 2. Not as sensitive as an Expride
  • 3. Loses fish if fished from a Kayak
  • 4. St. Croix Exchange policy, only credits $100 toward upgrade

Beyond Impressed. Balance is great, rod tip is very soft, casts a mile, has tremendous backbone and the cost is reasonable for such high quality. What else can you ask for?

High Dollar Rod for &100s Less
May 24, 2021
I got the 7’ 3” ‘Max-Tactical’, Medium, Extra Fast.

I use it primarily for bank fishing for Largemouth Bass in ponds and lakes.

I feel every bite. Hooks sets are more sure. And I can throw an unweighted 5” Senko a mile. Makes it easier to sneak up on a seasoned Largemouth.

I was looking at adding a St. Croix Premier when a salesman at a local store told me the Victory line had been released.

I did online research and saw quickly that with these rods you’re getting high dollar value for much less.

The initial run was practically sold out, so when I saw TackleDirect had one I placed the order.

Love it!!

I see that it’s for bass fishing, is it also designed for saltwater fishing?
1 Answer
This rod is specifically designed for freshwater bass fishing. I would not recommend using it in salt water. St Croix makes inshore spinning rods that would better suit a dual purpose role between fresh and salt water.
