As good as ever
July 9, 2022
I have two old model inshore rods that I have been quite happy with and I must say that I am pleased with the new model mojo inshore rods. I have no complaints.
Cons
  • I liked the rounded cork handles of the old models more as opposed the the squared corked handles of the new model.

Very Light rod and a nice color. Use it for perch fishing with tiny crankbaits, like the Illex (Jackall) Chubby.

Great rod with lots of power
July 19, 2021
I have this rod paired with a shimano tranx 301. Cast great. I can easily cast a 1oz egg sinker over 100 yards with very little effort. Great rod for casting big plugs and big swimbaits.
Pros
  • Well made.
  • Comfortable to cast.
  • Cast far.
  • Plenty of backbone.
Cons
  • None at this time

Originally had this paired with a 13 fishing reel but recently switched to a penn fathom low profile. It cast great and so far has performed as expected. This is my 2nd mojo inshore, had previous model. Like this one just as much. We will see how it holds up long term.

Great Fluking Rod
March 11, 2018
Have this paired with a Abu 6500 and use it mostly for inshore fluking and ocean days when i can hold with less than 4. Very light and plenty of backbone for those days the bluefish are around.
Pros
  • Light, strong and sensative

Good rod, not great.

I own both the casting and spinning St. Croix Mojo inshore rods and they struggle landing small fish. Super sensitive rods, you can feel every grain of sand when working a weight on the bottom.

The Mojo Inshore 7'6 Heavy Fast on St croix website says line 15-30lb and lure 3/4 to 2oz, why is it difference here? Also will this rod work on Daiwa Lexa 300hd?
1 Answer
The specs from St.Croix are correct and the Lexa 300hd would pair well with that St.Croix Rod

What is a good reel to pair with the JIC70MF?
1 Answer
Hi Marshall, Depending on what your fishing for I would recommend a Penn SQL200LP Squall Low Profile Baitcasting Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-sql200lp-squall-low-profile-baitcasting-reel.html This would pair great with the St. Croix JIC70MF Mojo Inshore Casting Rod for many saltwater fishing applications. Is the 7'9 XH good for ocean fluking with bucktails, rapid fast jigging? Reason I ask is because the action says Mod/fast not fast and usually for bucktailing fluke Fast is required to in part the proper action.
1 Answer
Based on your fishing application for this rod. The St. Croix JIC79XHMF Mojo Inshore Casting Rod would be ok to use for jigging but the rod would bend more parabolic due to the moderate-fast action taper. For St. Croix I would recommend the St. Croix MJM76HF Mojo Musky Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-mjm76hf-mojo-musky-rod.html This is 3" inches smaller and has the same lure weight and also has a Fast Action rod taper that would be perfect for jigging heavy bucktails in deep water. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Hi Connor, based on your fishing application I would recommend the St. Croix JIC76HF Mojo Inshore Casting Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-jic76hf-mojo-inshore-casting-rod.html This rod has the sold backbone you need to pull large fish out from structure quickly without losing them and would be your best option. What is the difference between the new Mojo inshore versus my VIC70MHF Avid besides the different rod butt?
1 Answer
The main difference is the quality of the components. All of the components on the new Mojo Inshores are quality, but the components on the Avid Inshore higher quality. The Avid Inshores are also made of high modulus graphite as opposed to carbon on the Mojos.

looking to pair a shimano torium 16hg.

do you think the 7'6"mhf would work. target species are

striper,tog and seabass.

1 Answer
This is more of a casting rod, and although it could handle larger weights than the rod is rated for when bottom fishing and not casting, you'd be better off going with a Mojo Salt or a rod with similar ratings.

What models have the gimble?

These are all the models that come with the gimbal. If you look at the picture given and see the rods listed 1-6 and check in the order chart tab, where it says handle, this will determine which rods have the gimbal.
