Upgrading the renowned Trevala rod family with some of Shimano's most advanced rod technologies, the Shimano Trevala PX Jigging Spinning Rods are a versatile series built for premium performance. A name that has become synonymous with offshore jigging, the Trevala series quickly became a staple among vertical jigging and bottom fisherman after it brought the revolutionary Butterfly Jig system to the United States many years ago. Now incorporating technologies that were previously exclusive to top-of-the-line Shimano rod series, the Trevala PX seeks to continue the legacy in dominant fashion. Built on blanks featuring Hi-Power X reinforcing technology, the Trevala PX increases overall strength and responsiveness while keeping the rod blank lightweight and comfortable to fish. The Hi-Power X blank is built with an outer layer of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions, resulting in enhanced torsional rigidity to reduce twist and ovalization while jigging or fighting fish. Fitted with only premium components, these rods feature Shimano CI4+ reel seats for supreme comfort and sensitivity. The rod blanks are wrapped with SeaGuide XQG and XOG guides with Zirconia inserts for optimal durability and line management with braided lines. With a diverse array of lengths, powers, and handle configurations to choose from, there will surely be a model to fit your personal preferences. Whether you plan on using it to jig Northeastern fluke and seabass, fish the diverse Florida reefs, or battle giant pelagics around the globe, the Trevala PX is a must-have for your arsenal of rods.

I picked this up to pair with the dawai eliminator as a spare rod for jigging tuna. It's light weight with a strong backbone and good action overall. For the price point I don't think you're getting a much better option.

Unbelievable what a rod.

I bought one of these and I have a gofplf cart with rod holders on the back. I came back from fishing and backed the cart into my low garage door. A tsunami and a trevala on the back. The tsunami carbon shield broke in 4 pieces, the trevala ox didn’t get even a scratch. Both rods were bend over badly when I did this and before could get out and try to do something the tsunami gave way.
Pros
  • Takes a beating and comes out a winner
  • Great light weight rod.
Cons
  • None that I can tell

Great Rods
December 26, 2020
Purchased 2 of these rods recently (TVXFS66H) and so far they are great rods. I own some older Shimano Trevalas that have never disappointed me and these are built even better. The only downside I have found is that the PX series doesn't have a hook keeper like my old Trevalas do.
Pros
  • Lightweight, powerful, tough, and still have a sensitive tip.
Cons
  • No hook keeper on a $200 rod?

Bought this to replace a rod I accidentally broke. I love the weight, the power, the length, and the look. One of my new favorites. Sensitive, paired with a Daiwa 4000D-C and 30 or 50lb Power Pro. Get one.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Strong
  • Attractive coloration
Cons
  • None.....yet.
