Upgrading the renowned Trevala rod family with some of Shimano's most advanced rod technologies, the Shimano Trevala PX Jigging Casting Rods are a versatile series built for premium performance. A name that has become synonymous with offshore jigging, the Trevala series quickly became a staple among vertical jigging and bottom fisherman after it brought the revolutionary Butterfly Jig system to the United States many years ago. Now incorporating technologies that were previously exclusive to top-of-the-line Shimano rod series, the Trevala PX seeks to continue the legacy in dominant fashion. Built on blanks featuring Hi-Power X reinforcing technology, the Trevala PX increases overall strength and responsiveness while keeping the rod blank lightweight and comfortable to fish. The Hi-Power X blank is built with an outer layer of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions, resulting in enhanced torsional rigidity to reduce twist and ovalization while jigging or fighting fish. Fitted with only premium components, these rods feature Shimano CI4+ reel seats for supreme comfort and sensitivity. The rod blanks are wrapped with SeaGuide XQG and XOG guides with Zirconia inserts for optimal durability and line management with braided lines. I love my trevala rods

Paired with an avet reel these are one of my favorite rigs for inshore striper, fluke, sea bass, whatever fishing. Strong, light, and responsive. Deserves a sixth star.

This is all really good all round Rod. Using it for Jigging offshore Yellowfin / Lingcod and Just realized it is perfect for Surf fishing slinging out a Lure or Fish Finder Rig.

I have two versions of this rod, the casting and the spinning, both 7ftMH. Extremely lightweight, very strong. Comfortable to hold, cast, and jig for hours. Holds a 4oz sinker with barely a bend. (Just know, the butt section of the casting rod is 19.5 inches to the trigger.)

Really great rod for the money. Will withstand heavy load. Yellowfin/bigAJ/smoker kings no problem. Even caught big grouper off of wrecks with them.

I did buy this rod to use for tog....didn’t work well but I have found other uses for this rod. I’m pretty sure I could even put a big reel on her and jig tuna. Trevalas are with out a doubt the best rod I ever used

I paired this rod with conventional Shimano Speeds master 16II, 2-speed reel and caught 2 big striped bass 45 pound fish, it handled very well, I hope it can handle yellowfin tuna between 1500 pounds, but that I didn’t try it yet.

Very powerful rod, handles 50lbs fish like nothing. Guides are beautiful and has same diameter overall from first guide to tip.

- Thought it might’ve been lighter than the “F” model. Maybe the less powerful rating rods.

Does this model have a gimbal, or is it only the models with aluminum gimbals?

Hi Nathaniel, The Shimano TVXFC66MH Trevala PX Jigging Casting Rod does not come with a Gimbal. Models: TVXFC58H, TVXFC58XH, TVXFC58XXH, and TVXFC66H all come with Aluminum Gimbals. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
