For those looking for outstanding value and high performance, this rod delivers. I was looking for a very lightweight rod that was good for most Northeast inshore species but also capable of handling small tuna or a big striper. Rod was maxed-out in Montauk and performed like a stud! I paired it with a Van Staal VR50 and it can do almost anything. In addition, I made my first in-store visit. So nice to talk w/ folks who really know their product- Thanks Alex!
Pros
  • Very light rod
  • Handles heavy fish too
  • High quality from butt to tip
Cons
  • None

Great back bone

I bought this rod to fill a niche between my "flounder rod" and my "cod rod" and it was perfect. This is great for stripers, fluke, and gator blues.
Pros
  • Great "back bone!"
Cons
  • Rod but cover keeps slipping off. Fixed it jwith a rubberband shimm.

Very happy with this choice

Paired this rod with an Abu Garcia Revo NaCl 60 to use primarily for chunking Stripers in the northeast. However, its caught everything from beat blackfish to grouper and jigging Tuna off the humps down in Marathon, Florida. Its handled every fish like a champ and has plenty of backbone. Only dislike was this one came with a split grip and I would have preferred a full grip, but its a minor blemish for a great rod.

Justin,

The Shimano Teramar Inshore Northeast casting rod TMCE70MH will work nicely for jigging / casting for Stripers when paired with the appropriate conventional reel.  Please let us know if the is anything else we can assist you with.

Hey guys, Would this be a good rod for my Penn fathom 12? I am using 30 pound JB and am using 1-3 oz for bottom fishing here in FL. If you wouldn't mind, would you mind suggesting some other rods in the $100-$200 range for the light tackle bottom fishing? Thanks

The Teramar is an excellent choice. Take a look at LAM-0073 Lamiglas Tri-flex inshore. It is a bit more than $200, but a great rod. The St. Croix SCR-0873 is also a great rod, and is in your price range.
