Great fighting rod but not a great spinning rod
August 14, 2020
I have fought some good size fish on this rod and it handles it fantastically. This makes a great jigging spinner rod. It works beautifully for slow or fast pitch jigging but not great as a spinning rod. Its a rod that can also cast. The guides are too small and the fast action doesn't allow for enough mid rod flex to get a good whip that you need to cast a long distance.
To give you an example I can cast further on my Ugly stick 4' micro rod using a 1.5 oz deadly dick lure, by double then I can with anything with this rod.

Don't get me wrong. This is a beautiful rod that fights fish great and has the power to pull in 100# tuna but if you gotta cast far to them then this is not it.
Pros
  • Strong back bone to fight big fish.
Cons
  • Poor casting distance.

The rod is great enough for me to use for Striper and Rockfish. Also, strong enough for fishing Halibut. As right now am using for 3 setup.

TLS80HBBL - Excellent Medium Duty Stick
June 6, 2019
This rod can do a lot of work for striper, cod, deep drop, schoolie tuna, and bluefish applications. Feels very sturdy and worthy of bigger game, but is not a total pool cue. Love the grooved fore grip, also showcased in the Terez lineup. Very happy with this rod. The possibilities are endless.
Pros
  • Stout
  • Comfortable Grip

This rod has great sensitivity and you can pull the big ones out of their holes. It's light enough to be fished all day without getting worn down and looks great. Paired it with a Shimano Torium 30 and it worked perfectly.

  • Lightweight
  • Very sensitive
  • Strong Backbone

I want to use this rod with SW6000 will this be a good for jigging and what weight jigs can I use?
1 Answer
This rod would pair very well with the reel you mentioned for most jigging/bottom fishing applications. Although shimano does not list the lure rating for this rod i would suggest between 2-6oz would be acceptable for this rod.

If looking for strictly jigging applications i would suggest checking out the Trevala PX line of rods as well

Is this rod a good match for a Shimano Saragosa 18000 using 65 lb powerpro to use for popping for tuna?
1 Answer
This rod would be a great choice for that reel and purpose. To increase your casting distance, you could even look into a 7 or 8ft rod as well.
