Multipurpose rod
August 13, 2021
Purchased this rod and paired it with a pen torque 300. It performs flawlessly when jigging for bluefin tuna and have caught fish up to 60” on it. It also is sensitive enough that it works well as a bottom fishing rod for cod and haddock. Even found a needle in a haystack and hooked a 200 pound class Thresher vertical jigging for cod and this rod had more than enough to do battle.
Pros
  • Extremely light
Cons
  • Would prefer a stranger reel seat but with a reel clamp installed it?s a non issue.

Nice feel but poor quality

I really like the weight and action of the rod. The real seat came loose on my first time using it so I don't believe the quality is there.
Pros
  • Action, Weight
Cons

66XH paired with a Tekota for rockfish, halibut, kayak dropper. Won't fatigue you after hours at the rail, plenty of strength to winch up anything from the bottom.

Bought a two of these (one conventional and one spinning) a couple of years ago and no complaints. Great for live baiting from NJ piers. Both paired with Shimano reels and Power Pro. Handles very nicely.

Hi, im interested in getting one of these rods for an all purpose trolling rod here in NJ. I will be matching it avet 30exws. my goal is to have a light rod that is fun on smaller yf/bft (40lbs) but can still handle a solid big eye. I am fishing off an outoboard CC. would extra heavy be the way to go or just heavy?
1 Answer
The heavy will work fine for those size fish. The extra heavy will work also but will horse in those smaller fish easier.
