Designed to target the full range of inshore species from New England to the Gulf Coast, the Shimano Talavera Inshore Spinning Rods are a versatile and affordable option for any backwater or near-shore angler. The Talavera Inshore series features an array of lengths and power ratings to cater towards use with a variety of baits and lures. Models range from those light enough to present small jigs and soft plastics on the flats to more powerful rods for slinging large plugs to big stripers or snook. There's even the perfect model for drifting live baits for tarpon. The Talavera's strong, lightweight blank is wrapped with SeaGuide Zirconia guides for rock solid durability and optimized casting performance. All models feature comfortable full-grip cork handles and a tried and true Fuji reel seat. The 6-1/2 foot through 7-1/2 foot models are fitted with a soft, compressed cork butt end for better comfort when fighting fish with the rod butt against your waist or mid-section, while the 8 foot model features a rubber gimbal that securely fits into a rod holder or a fighting belt for additional support.

Love this rod!

I paired this rod (Shimano TESIS70MHC) with a Daiwa Saltist Back Bay 4000 for some local SoCal calico and sand bass fishing. This set-up performed beyond my expectations and I can't wait to get out on the ocean again. The quality of this rod exceeds it's price point and I am extremely happy with my purchase.
Pros
  • High Quality
Cons
  • None

The rod is an unbelievably great value and %100 percent will cast its stated range. That being said it is tip heavy so id reccomend pairing it with a 4000 size shimano reel or 3000 size daiwa to balance it or in general a 10+ oz. reel. Powerful enough to easily subdue big blue fish, sensitive enough to feel tiny porgy nibbles.
Pros
  • great value, nice size rear grip for kayak fishing, very powerful
Cons
  • tip heavy but when balanced it feels great

Light weight rod with a stiff backbone. Nice rod for the price.
