Designed to target the full range of inshore species from New England to the Gulf Coast, the Shimano Talavera Inshore Spinning Rods are a versatile and affordable option for any backwater or near-shore angler. The Talavera Inshore series features an array of lengths and power ratings to cater towards use with a variety of baits and lures. Models range from those light enough to present small jigs and soft plastics on the flats to more powerful rods for slinging large plugs to big stripers or snook. There's even the perfect model for drifting live baits for tarpon. The Talavera's strong, lightweight blank is wrapped with SeaGuide Zirconia guides for rock solid durability and optimized casting performance. All models feature comfortable full-grip cork handles and a tried and true Fuji reel seat. The 6-1/2 foot through 7-1/2 foot models are fitted with a soft, compressed cork butt end for better comfort when fighting fish with the rod butt against your waist or mid-section, while the 8 foot model features a rubber gimbal that securely fits into a rod holder or a fighting belt for additional support.

Love this rod!

I paired this rod (Shimano TESIS70MHC) with a Daiwa Saltist Back Bay 4000 for some local SoCal calico and sand bass fishing. This set-up performed beyond my expectations and I can't wait to get out on the ocean again. The quality of this rod exceeds it's price point and I am extremely happy with my purchase.
Pros
  • High Quality
Cons
  • None

7 foot heavy(1/2-1 3/4)

The rod is an unbelievably great value and %100 percent will cast its stated range. That being said it is tip heavy so id reccomend pairing it with a 4000 size shimano reel or 3000 size daiwa to balance it or in general a 10+ oz. reel. Powerful enough to easily subdue big blue fish, sensitive enough to feel tiny porgy nibbles.
Pros
  • great value, nice size rear grip for kayak fishing, very powerful
Cons
  • tip heavy but when balanced it feels great

is the 7,6 MH too light for snag and drop bunker and casting large soft plastics for stripers?
1 Answer
It really depends on the rod but a medium heavy or heavy would work. With this specific rod I would use a heavy.

Can I use the 7,6 MH for seabass jigging with 2-4 oz jigs? Also would YHE daiwa BG 3000 fit on this
1 Answer
The BG 3000 would pair nicely with this rod however 2-4 oz jigs would be too heavy for this rod. If you are using heavier jigs in deeper water. Check out the trevalas they have heavier blanks for heavier jigs.

Would the 8 XH pair well with Spheros 6000 and be stout enough to catch cobia and mahi? Or would the 7 H model be better suited?
1 Answer
Hi Matt, Based on your fishing application I would recommend a Shimano TESIS80XHC Talavera Inshore Spinning Rod. However, since this is currently sold out I would also recommend a Shimano TMS-80H Teramar Inshore Southeast Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/tms80h.html This would also pair well with a Saragosa 6000 SW and be ideal for targeting Cobia and Mahi. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Which blank would be best between the 7'6" MH and 8'XH

for 1oz dropshot and up to 1oz jerkbaits

for halibut in the bays and surf? Also which rod would pair best

with the shimano sustain 5000 2017?

1 Answer
Hello Ash,

The answer to both of your questions would be the 7'6" MH model. Light enough to handle smaller baits while giving you all of the power you will need in case you (hopefully) hook into a bigger fish. It will also pair perfect with the 5000 Sustain.

Thank you for the question, ,tight lines!

Is the TESIS70MB a good match for a Shimano BTR 6000 spinning reel? I fish for striped bass inshore and use lures and soft plastics up to 2 ounces.
1 Answer
The Shimano TESIS70MB Talavera Inshore Spinning Rod would be a even match when pairing it with the Shimano Baitrunner 6000. Using this combo for soft plastics and lures up to 2 oz would be ideal for this setup.
