Both rods are matching with Shimano Ci4 using 20# braid. They can stop almost anything I catch in the Intracoastal waterway here in NE FL/Jacksonville. I have caught redfish up to 38" in a foot of water.
A medium heavy action combined with a fast action tip is gentle enough to toss live bait a mile and not tear it up. It will also sling a top water plug or Bomber Long A with tremendous accuracy. Flats fishing is about hitting the target. These rods are great.
I also carry two T Allen high carbon micro guide 7'8" medium action with extra fast tips. They are the most sensitive rods I have ever seen. I use them for 1/8 jigs and lately an Unfair Advantage shrimp.
Both rods are also paired with Shimano Ci4 2500 and 10# braid. The rod is more than double the cost of my Teramar. They will cast a tiny weight across town! I use them the most. If a fish taps your lure it's like getting slapped in the hand amazing sensitivity.
The last rod on my boat is a Star Rod - Plasma 7' heavy action with 20# braid. It is rated for baits up to 2oz but can handle double that if bottom fishing.
I use it for soaking blue crab pieces for redfish, big live mullet and trolling. The rod is a beast and doesn't cast very well it's too stiff and too short. It works very well in specific circumstances.
All my rods are one piece. I am old enough to need hi-viz line. I get out two or three times a week.
Fish don't fear me....

- Great price very durable.
- My 4 year old rod is showing some rust on eyes. I fish only saltwater. They are rinsed off 95% of the time.
(what else can be said about shimano teramar, for the price it is one of the best options for shore fishing, the first time I used it I feasted on 15 jack mackerel catches between 4 and 5 kg, it is very versatile since you can cast from 3/4 oz rubbers, 1.5 oz walking lures to jigs and without getting tired since it has the right weight.)

I leave these out in the elements for most of the season, and they've held up nicely. Would definitely purchase again.
But what excites me most is my four new Teramar rods, 7 and 8 foot medium heavy for 1/2 fo 2 ounce lures…
Yesterday my new Thunnus 8000 reels arrived which I paired with the 8 footer MH Teramar rods and almost new Stradic 5000’s paired with the 7 footers…all new 40 pound Power Pro from my new 1500 yard spool…almost heaven is all I can say…my old Baitrunner 3500 and 4500 at 25 years work fine but all things must pass…
At 72, I decided it was time to buy my last new spinning reels…grandson recently earned his Captains license and today we will fish:my new Pathfinder! Life is good…I expect to catch some bull reds, snook and Jacks today…
Thanks to Tackle Direct for making it happen so smoothly as usual!
- For 32 years, fishing saltwater daily, Shimano has never failed me?
- I just retired a 30 year old Stratic 4000?my repair guy said it?s time?remember, I use these tools two to three times per day?that?s a thousand times per year?sad to see the old reel retire, but these new rods and reels get me more excited than new equipment I bought over 60 years ago?by the way, the old equipment still work fine due to great engineering and manufacturing?
- One of the best inshore rod in terms of quality price.

- Highly versatile... outstanding price point
- I wish it was about 4? to 6? longer
Will it pair with a Shimano 4000 Baitrunner?
Shimano Teramar Inshore rod series was created for anglers from two very different locations: the Southeast and the West Coast. Southeastern anglers will find perfect rods for plug casting for snook, spinning on the flats or tarpon fishing under passes. West Coast anglers have an array of rods that includes trigger-stick casting rods for swim baits and jig sticks.
This will be a great combo

Will the 8 XXH pair well with a Saragossa 10k?
Not sure if the reel is too much for that rod for anything from tarpon to grouper.
Thank you,
Mike
The Shimano Saragosa 10000 SW will pair nicely with the Shimano Teramar Inshore SE spinning rod TMS-80XXH for tarpon and grouper. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
The Shimano Teramar Inshore SE spinning rod TMSX80XH will pair nicely with the Shimano Twin Power SW 8000 as it has plenty of backbone for targeting Mahi, school tuna, Grouper, and King Mackerel. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

casting plugs and plastics to striped bass in New England waters. Bought the 7’ heavy power, moderate action one to pair with my 6000 and it was a flop. Too much whip made any plug or plastic a waste of time.Bought it from Tackle
direct, too.
That said, I can tell you that the TMSX80XH is probably the rod we sell the most to anglers looking for a Tarpon rod...
Please take a look at jigging world rods they are better than the shimano and you will save moneyÂ
