Good all around rod. Works great from the kayak. Helped me pull two 20+ lb Mahi into my kayak no problems. Price is great. Won't break your wallet and can be a good little workhorse.

great all around boat rod

I like this rod due to light weight. Seems to be well-constructed as well. I also have the same model rod in conventional. Would recommend to anyone looking for a mid-grade all around boat rod.

Hi I apologise in advance but I actually have 3 questions. Im looking to get into striper boat fishing, I have a Shimano Stradic SW 6K (Same as Saragosa 6k) with 30lb braid so im wondering if...(1)what is the exact oz rating of this rod, doesnt say anywhere and cant find any information about it anywhere aswell as

If the medium heavy or heavy would be good for all around lure casting, jigging and live bait up to 4oz jigs and plugs(mostly 1/2 - 3 1/2 oz). (2) Does this rod have a softer tip with stout backbone aswell as being sensitive. (3) which model will fit me better for stripers 20-50lbs MH or H? I know its a lot of information but would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

1 Answer
Hi Jose, Based on your fishing application I would recommend the Shimano TES66HC Talavera Boat Spinning Rod. However this rod is only rated in a Heavy action which is rated for casting up to 2oz lures and would not be ideal for jigging lures over 2oz. However, I would recommend a Shimano TTJS60MH Talavera Type J Jigging Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-ttjs60mh-talavera-type-j-jigging-spinning-rod.html This rod is light, sensitive, but is very strong and would be ideal for casting or jigging lures up to 250grams or 8.9oz for large stripers. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
