Back and updated with some of Shimano’s newest technologies, the Shimano STCI44000XGFB Stradic CI4 Plus Spinning Reel delivers top-level performance in a lighter and more durable platform than ever before. By decreasing overall weight, adding the new lightweight MGL Rotor, and incorporating G-Free Body, the Shimano Stradic Ci4+ is the lightest and most comfortable Stradic ever made. Don’t let this reel’s light weight fool you however; the use of cold-forged Hagane Gearing, CoreProtect, and X-Ship technology ensures the Stradic Ci4+ is up to taking the abuse for years of dependable operation.

From Largemouth Bass and Walleye to Striped Bass and Snook, Shimano’s Stradic Ci4+ Spinning Reels delivers all the features and power needed to tame a wide variety of freshwater and inshore species.

Shimano Technology Found In Stradic Ci4+ Reels :
  • Aero Wrap II - Utilizing a patented worm gear design, this two-speed oscillation system lays the line onto the spool in a X pattern that reduces line-on-line friction and helps to increase casting distance.
  • CoreProtect - The concept of CoreProtect is simple – to provide exceptional water resistance without creating any additional rotational resistance on the retrieve. The reel is treated at key areas such as the roller clutch, body, and line roller to resist water intrusion.
  • Hagane Gear - Boasting amazing strength and durability, Hagane Gear is a process in which the gearing is calculated in minute detail and cold forged instead of being cut. This application of state-of-the-art technologies gives the angler reel smoothness from the first use through years of enjoyment.
  • MGL Rotor - The Magnumlight Rotor is 25% lighter and allows for better balance and requires 22% less inertia, which makes it easier to start and stop the retrieve for a smoother feel.
  • S A-RB Bearings - These bearings undergo the same anti-corrosion process as Shimano’s A-RB Bearings, with the addition of shields on both sides of the bearings to reduce the possibility of salt, dirt, or other foreign objects inhibiting the bearing’s rotation.
  • Super Stopper - Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way stainless steel roller bearing to eliminate back-play in the reel and provide the angler with instant power when setting the hook.
  • X-Ship - By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear remains in precise alignment with the drive gear and stays in the same position under even the heaviest of loads. This eliminates friction between the spool shaft and gear which translates to better casting performance and increased gear durability.

Stradic's do it again!!!
September 15, 2017
I have many Shimano Stradic reels. Why, because they never fail me. This new C-14 is no exception. The main reasons have to do with castability. They cast like a dream and lay line like a smooth sheet w/o digging in and a great retrieve ratio. My friends think I'm crazy to use them in saltwater but I recently wrestled a nice snook from the mangroves as well as caught bluefish and spanish mackerel from the surf in Florida with these reels. I have several sizes, and each is soooo balanced by the incredible lightness per size ratio, making it effortless to cast endlessly w/o fatigue or reel/rod balance issues. Love these guys, and just gifted one to a friend!!!
Cons
  • Unsealed bearings.

I've had this reel for about 3 years now paired with a gloomis e6x inshore. This thing is a workhorse. I have the 3000 series and I've caught redfish upwards of 10 pounds no problems at all

i have the 3000 and 4000 CI4 reels. Great reels and light weight. I have caught 40 inch plus redfish on my paddleboard with these reels. Fishing on a paddleboard all day is quite a workout and having a good light setup is key.
Pros
  • good drag and light weight
Cons
  • cost more than the Stradic

Great Reels, Lightweight and durable
November 20, 2019
I have 5 Stradic Ci4's, 1 gen 1, 2 gen 2's and 2 gen 3's. I am tough on my gear and they get a lot of use and have never let me down. Super light and durable. I've caught 15 pound bluefish and 20 pound stripers on the 3000's and use use them for albies as well. I will say that I wish they kept the foam grip handle on the gen 3's. That's the only reason I'm not giving this reel a 5 star ratings.

one of the lightest reels out there

The CI4 version is so light but still packs a punch as its sibling the stradic FK, I use these for freshwater applications because I baby this reel so much I don't want to put it on saltwater

Is this reel rated for Saltwater Fishing? Do Shimano Stradic's still give you the spare spool as they did in the past?
1 Answers
The Shimano Stradic 4000 would be a good reel to use for light inshore fishing. The Shimano Stradic do not come with a spare spool like in years past. Thank you for considering TackleDirect for your fishing needs.

I am considering a 12.00' AVID ST CROIX SURF FISHING ROD, what Shimano reel works best with the Rod ?
1 Answers
The Shimano ULT14000XTD Ultegra XTD Surf Spinning Reel or the Shimano ARTC10000XS Aero Technium 10000 XS-C Surf Spinning Reel would be a good match for the 12' St. Croix Avid.

The difference between the two reels is the XG model has the higher gear ratio and the FA model is the older model.
