Perfect little bay reel

I purchased four of these perfect little bay reels for flounder fishing. I pair it up with a short ugly stick and have a great time. It’s perfect for guests kids and myself. If one breaks or fails I throw it away and grab a new one. I would recommend it for any small bay fishing.

Solid reel for a very low price.

Overall a solid reel for the price that you pay. So far I have no complaints, the bail flipped on me while I was casting once but that was only one time. Drag on the reel is more than you'll need for most fish but good to know you have it just in case. Perfect for a small lightweight rod set up.

Using this reel exclusively for Bass on a medium action rod. Works great most of the time. When it doesn't work well, the spool seems to bind making retrieve very difficult. Haven't been able to identify why this occurs but it always resolves itself after some time off. Next time will buy one or two models up in price/quality

Caught a1.5 pound blue runner one of the best fish pound per pound fighting wise. Had some structure which is where they always head to cut line and was able to bring up. Had a 8lb green ande line.

Hi Dustin, The Shimano FX FC Spinning Reels are only designed for up to 12lb monofilament for the 4000 size model. If you go over this amount your line capacity would be significantly decreased. Instead I would recommend a Shimano NEXC5000HGFI Nexave FI Spinning Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-nexc5000hgfi-nexave-fi-spinning-reel.html This larger 5000 model will be more accomodating for 15lb monofilament line for your applications. Im a novice when it come to reels and the anti reverse feature. How to I prevent the reel from spinning backwards? I know you can fight small fish that way but how do I prevent the reel from spinning backwards? Or is that how the reel operates?

Hi Sean, The Shimano FX FC Spinning Reels have a instant anti-reverse. This is operated as soon as the handle becomes tightened on the sideplate. There is also a switch under the spool that when flipped it should allow the anti-reverse to lock into place. Once the handle is tightened the reel should lock automatically and not spin backwords. I just opened the 2000 and there's no anti reverse. There's no mechanism to engage it. It just reels freely forward and reverse. Does this model come with anti reverse? If so, how is it engaged?
Please let me know. One of the questions asked is "does this reel come with instant anti reverse?" The answer was "yes it does come with instant anti reverse" If it doesn't I will return it.

Hi Sean, The Shimano FX 2000 FC Spinning Reel does not have the anti-reverse switch. This reel has instant anti-reverse and the switch is not needed. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
