The rampage rods are great rods at a great price and with the 6500 size reel a 50# braid will work just fine

The best size Spinfisher to pair with the Okuma Nomad 10 ft Heavy surf rod would be the 5500 for the best results.

You could use the Spinfisher 6500 fishing for reds and medium size sharks in the surf and inshore.

I would use the Spinfisher 4500. The Spinfisher series is sealed more than the battle and handles better in heavier saltwater conditions than the battle would.

When pairing up with an 11ft rod we would suggest a 5500 size in the Spinfisher V. If you are planning to use a heavy braided line like 50-65 lb. test, then we would suggest stepping up in size to the 6500.

I would recommend a 7' or 7'6" Mojo Inshore, Heavy power, Fast action. A Shimano Teramar or Gloomis E6X Inshore of a similar variety would also be options.

Hello Bob. This is standard on these reels. You are absolutely correct on the bale being close to the spool at times. With the way the reel is designed this is actually not a concern and will not affect your casting distance. The Spinfisher will treat you very well getting out into the surf where you want to be.

Rushdi, I would recommend the 12' ft penn battalion surf rod, its going to be very balanced and have the ability to handle the higher pound test the 10500 is able to hold.

The rubber on these reels is sufficient. You do not need to also use mono backing or tape.. The braid won't slip with this sort of spool.

Hello Jeffrey, I would recommend you go with the 6500 size Penn Spinfisher V. This size will hold 300 yards of 30 lbs line which is more than enough for fighting big blues and striped bass. It will also have plenty of drag for fighting bigger fish as well. It will be a great match with your Mojo and you will be able to throw lures and or bait all day with this setup.

Yes for inshore stripers, weakfish, bluefish, etc. 3500-4500 tops.

The body sizes are different as well as the spools. You may want to contact Penn to see if they have a bail less conversion kit for the 5500. The phone number is 800-892-5444.

The difference is in the oscillation rate of the bail. It is much slower than than 7500 thus the line lay is much more even. This allows for the line to come off the spool more smoothly and increases the casting distance considerably.

As for the length, you would want to use at least a 10' rod, maybe up to 12' long. The model really depends on you and how you fish. If you are throwing large plugs or bait, you need a more stout rod than if you are only throwing light weight offerings. What you are fishing for also comes into play. The Penn prevail and the new Battalion rods are both great choices.

Look at the Okuma and Tsunami jigging rods. Either one will give you a lot of power at a great price.

The 6500 is available without a rod, if you prefer. A jigging rod is always good to have, but not the best for piers and jetties.

You can get away with it dropping metals, but for surf fishing, it is small (line capacity).

The 6500LL is a "live liner" or "bait runner" model. The 6500BLS is a "bailless" model. The 6500 is a "normal model.

We would go with the 3500. It has plenty of line capacity and drag to handle what you will run into.

For surf fishing dead baits, I would recommend the Spinfisher 7500SSV. This reel is better designed for throwing heavy baits and it a little more HD to handle the surf more than the Battle. If you are looking to throw mostly artificial baits the battle would be better because it is much lighter than the SSV reels.
