CAUGHT LOTS OF 15 TO 20 lb. RED SNAPPER IN 175 ft. OF WATER. NO PROBLEMS GETTING THEM UP BEFORE THE SHARKS GET THEM. GREAT FOR FISHING VERTICAL JIGS AS WELL.

The slammer 4 2500 is a beast. I primarily kayak fish the salt and these reals are perfect. They are smooth and refined but held up to a beating. I have a pair of the newest spinfishers that also have held up. I have gone through diawa bgs, Stradics, and a few other reels that we’re smooth as butter but could not hold up to the beating they take on a kayak.

I've owned a lot of spinning reels in my time, (nearly every brand) and some were great reels. This Penn Slammer lV is quality that can get into the ring with any heavy weight fighter. These are military tough and smooth too. The drag is consistently smooth on long runs and the bail is solid. I will never switch again from Penn again. Price represents quality and I expect to get YEARS and YEARS of enjoyment knowing that I have the advantage once hooked up. The only thing that this reel needs is line and an angler saying "Fish on".

This reel has exceeded my every expectation. Diawa has been my reel of choice for nearly two decades. The power and sturdiness of these reels is remarkable. So much so I know own a 5500, 7500,8500HS. This reel handled some sizeable Cubera Snapper and a 30 kilo Rooster just weeks ago. Never have I considered until now, a reel I enjoy as much as my Line-up up Saltigas. Far as price goes. Almost 3 of the SlammerIV series for the price of one Saltiga. Still love my Dogfight 8000HDF though.

Bought the 10500 size for sharks off the jetty. That and looks, I put pandora braid on the reel. Its looks so cool, 100lb purple braid with the reel. I may do a photo shoot with this, it's like holding a super model in your hands. Just amazing

Awesome gets even better for sure! Great looks and raw power make this reel a must have. Drag is improved so it can be loosened a lot more than the III model could.

Id like to pair a slammer with a Penn overseas popper xl to be used for giant trevaly fishing in Christmas Island. What size slammer do you recommend for popping for gts? Ill likely use it to cast to tuna, mahi, and reef fish as well.
