Nice feel, light and powerfull

I read in the penn official page this rod breaks trhougth 4th and 5th guide, but i have used it for large bonito and over 20# jacks and didn't broke. Is light as a feather, and have nice guides. but I had to change the reel seat (poor quality in the foam and reel doesn?t fit very well) because it gets off and spins after a few uses. In general is a good rod.
I paired it with a BG5000.
Pros
  • Light, nice looking and powerful
Cons
  • Poor reel seat material

Great Rod for the Money
March 22, 2021
4 stars because I haven't used it yet. My first Penn rod and so far I am very happy. Arrived in great shape; packaged in a sturdy shipping tube. Feels good in the hand and pairs well with the Squall low profile 200. Great looking rod made with quality materials. Looking forward to fishing this set up.
Pros
  • Balance and feels good in the hand.
Cons
  • None as of now.

would my stradic 5000 work on this rod? if so what size?

1 Answer
Hi Mason, I would recommend a 7ft Heavy Penn PREINII1530S70 Prevail II Inshore Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-preinii1530s70-prevail-ii-inshore-spinning-rod.html This would pair and balance well with your Shimano Stradic 5000 for many inshore saltwater fishing applications. Please let us know if there's anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Hi. I just want to know if that model can handle 1 1/2oz because I've been looking for medium heavy but there is only heavy. The majority of my lures are one and a half punds.

1 Answer
This model's lure rating maxes out at 1 oz. I would not buy this rod if you plan on throwing lures above its rating. The 7' Medium Heavy is currently in stock and would handle 1.5 oz lures fine. (PREINII1220S70)

what is the weight of the rod: PREINII1530S70 in oz, and could be paired with a daiwa bg5000? or is too heavy the reel?
1 Answer
Penn states that this rod is approximately 8.7oz. This rod would pair very well with a Daiwa BG 5000, if you are affraid of this reel being too heavy i would recommend looking at a Shimano Stradic FL 5000 or Daiwa Ballistic 5000, both very nice tough reels that are significantly lighter in weight than the BG

What size rod would fit a Spinfisher 4500
1 Answer
Hello Will,

Your Spinfisher 4500 would pair well with any one of these Prevail 2 rods. Which rod you choose would really just depend on what species of fish you are targeting, your fishing technique and location, and the kinds of lures or bait you would like to use.

I hope this helps, please feel free to contact us with more details so we can better assist you!
