Is a great little reel, have caught some pretty big fish with this. The amount of drag is the best thing about this reel. Only own Penn reels for a reason.

Only used once so far and really pleased with the reel, it made short work of a nice Cobia and several Amberjacks. I anticipate enjoying this reel a lot.

Best 2 speed lever drag reel for the money
August 5, 2021
I have 4 of these Fathom reels. Penn reliability. Plenty tough for big tuna.
Pros
  • Quality. Price.
Cons
  • The basic reel clamp provided does not have a hole off to one side to hook your lure. Not a big deal.

I am looking for a left hand 2 speed reel with 40 lbs of drag. does this reel come in a left hand model? thanks
1 Answer
Unfortunately, these reels don't come in a left hand retrieve. I would take a look at the Avet HXJ 5/2 MC RAPTOR 2-Speed Casting Reels - Left-Hand.

Would this reel be too big for the star Rod DLX35H deluxe boat rod or will a Daiwa saltist 50/Avet HX 4.2 work better
1 Answer
The Daiwa saltist 50 and Avet HX 4.2 would provide a better balance for the star Rod DLX35H deluxe boat rod.
