These are my go to lures for albacore in the north jersey area. They cast a mile and keep their color They also catch stripers when bait is small

Versatile jigs
April 29, 2022
I use Hogy Epoxy jigs in a variety of sizes for a variety of species. Albies love the smaller sizes, they cast great, and you can burn them along the surface to active fish.

I've used the larger 3-4oz sizes to jig for groundfish, and they work like a charm. I also use those larger sizes to anchor my sabiki bait rigs, and they'll occasionally pick up a wayward gamefish.

Disappointed

Came with a missing eye. Advertised to have vmc hooks but I only see a low quality dull colored tremble hook.

Not sure if this was a mistake on Hogys end ir TD. But I attached pictures as proof

casts out of sight

this is one of my favorite lures for Arroyo nite-lite dock fishing for schoolie specs. The drill is very pleasant, sit on the dock chatting with friends and watch for fish sign. They can be close, or far out. Stand up, catch a fish, sit back down. Changing up lures will get more fish. This lure will literally cast halfway across the arroyo when the fish sign is out beyond the lights. Sinks slowly and fishes well in the zone with just about any retrieve.
Pros
  • casts out of sight, controlled sink, good action

Definitely my go to jig now. Plan to fish it again this weekend
Pros
  • Color stays even with beating against rocks
Cons
  • None
