What good is a line counter. That you cannot read.

I own several Diawa line counters reels. I love them. I own several Saltist reels. I love them. I only own one Saltist 50 Linecounter reel. I hate it. The numbers are very difficult to read. Much smaller then other Diawa line counters. Must be close to read and in bright light. Diawa really screwed up this, other wise great design.
Pros
  • Great reel, great drag, comfortable handle, strong well built
Cons
  • Line counter numbers to small to read. Awkward position for line counter

The body is very well made and is a dream to operate. The line counter is a little funny. Have been meaning to contact daiwa.on mine if you don't reset counter every time it counts wrong
Pros
  • Almost all metal and solid. Cranks like a dream. Drag star has slight locking mechanism
Cons
  • Counter could be better

Is this reel suitable for lead core trolling? is the levelwind mouth wide enough for leadcore clearance? specifically an albright knot or a double uni knot between the leadcore and the backing?
1 Answers
Yes since it can handle line the diameter of 50lb mono no problem you can. As long as you don't tie some huge knot which it doesn't sound like you are.
