I've tried tons of reel from different brands and different price ranges and this is probably the best reel in the <$70 price range. Feels very good. Worth noting this reel is unfortunately no longer sold and has been replaced by the newer daiwa regal lt. Good reel nonetheless.

Great budget reels

In my opinion no one does the more budget friendly spinning reels better than Daiwa, and this reel is a good example of that. They are very smooth, and are built very nicely for the money. They also offer a nice drag which can be a problem area on a lot of other budget friendly spinning reels.

What is the capacity and max drag for the 3000? And would this be ok for light SW pier fishing or is it FW only?

The line rating is 8/240, 10/200 mono. The max drag is unavailable at this time. I would not recommend pier fishing with this reel. Light inshore casting from the shore and side banks will be ok.
