These rods feature a two-piece 50/50 split design for easy packing and storage when traveling to and from the water.

Surprised - in a good way
June 25, 2022
First time buyer of a Diawa rod hoping the quality matched the reviews and reel quality. It did. Paired w/ Daiwa 2500, this is now my favorite surf fishing rig. First time out, nice feel and overall experience (rays, <7 # fish). Will test it on larger fish (hopefully) next trip to the OBX.
Pros
  • Feel, strength, flex
Cons
  • none

Amazing rod for the price
April 23, 2022
Extremely light and looks nice too. Only thing is the reel seat isn’t wide so penn reels won’t fit. I was going to pair this rod with a penn pursuit but the reel foot was too wide for the reel seat. Besides that it’s an amazing rod. Had to get another reel to fit it tho
Pros
  • Light weight
  • Sturdy
  • Reasonable price
Cons
  • Reel seat isn?t wide so penn reels can?t work with it

Hi,

Are the new Daiwa Emcast series surf rods 50/50, or 70/30 split? In particular the 10’ and the 10’6”. The older version of Emcast rods I own(9’ and 11’) are 50/50 split.

Thanks!

1 Answer
MC.

The new Daiwa Emcast Surf rods are a 50/50 split for all models.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Will this ro(10'6MH)d throw 2-6 ounces 50-100 metres into the surf

And can it do the same with 1 as listed I'm talking about lures and also can I catch big game fish up to 30 kilos

1 Answer
Yes this rod is rated for lures 1-6 oz so anything within that range would be ideal. for this rod in particular the sweet spot would be around 2-3oz for maximum distance,

If you need a little more distance and bend to fight these fish i would bump up to the 11' or 12' MH model

Hi I received diawa ECA1002MHFB but all I use are spinning reels Can I use a spinning reel on this rod? How bad of an idea will it be considering the first eye is pretty far from reel seat.
1 Answer
The rod model that you have is designed to be used with conventional reels. A spinning reel would fit on the rod and you would be able to fish with it, however the guide layout would significantly hinder your ability to cast well. Also, the blank is designed to bend in the opposite direction than it would if you were fishing the rod with a spinning reel. I would strongly suggest getting a different rod that is designed for spinning reels.

What is the difference between the ECA1002MHFB and the ECA1002MHFS? I would understand the "S" for spinning, and a "C" for casting, but the "B" threw me off.
1 Answer
The rods that end in B are casting rods. The rods that end in S are spinning rods.
