Built for land based anglers who need a long casting rod that's comfortable to fish, the Daiwa Emcast Surf Rods check all the right boxes at a fantastic value. The Emcast Surf Rods are built on a lightweight graphite blank that helps make casting easier, while retaining the strength to put the brakes on big game fish when the moment comes. Comfortable EVA handles and an ergonomic hooded reel seat allow for all day comfort when casting and handling the rod. The Emcast is equipped with Daiwa's Saltwater Tough Guides that feature corrosion resistant guide frames and aluminum oxide ring inserts for smoother casting. These rods feature a two-piece 50/50 split design for easy packing and storage when traveling to and from the water.

Surprised - in a good way
June 25, 2022
First time buyer of a Diawa rod hoping the quality matched the reviews and reel quality. It did. Paired w/ Daiwa 2500, this is now my favorite surf fishing rig. First time out, nice feel and overall experience (rays, <7 # fish). Will test it on larger fish (hopefully) next trip to the OBX.
Pros
  • Feel, strength, flex
Cons
  • none

Amazing rod for the price

Extremely light and looks nice too. Only thing is the reel seat isn’t wide so penn reels won’t fit. I was going to pair this rod with a penn pursuit but the reel foot was too wide for the reel seat. Besides that it’s an amazing rod. Had to get another reel to fit it tho
Pros
  • Light weight
  • Sturdy
  • Reasonable price
Cons
  • Reel seat isn?t wide so penn reels can?t work with it

This is not spinning rod. "EMCST902HFB Emcast Surf Conventional Rod".

What will be best matching bait casting reel or conventional reel for this rod?

I would recommend the Penn SQLII15SD Squall II Star Drag Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-sqlii15sd-squall-ii-star-drag-reel.html This would pair great with your Daiwa EMCST902HFB Emcast Surf Conventional Rod for a variety of surf fishing applications. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
