Best Surf spinning rod!
November 4, 2018
This rod is light and whippy, great for throwing plugs even at the lightest end of it's range. I had read some reviews that the rod was breaking on heavier plugs, so fishing a jetty during the mullet run here in Florida I was tentative at first to use it for live bait. As it was the only rod I had with me I got more and more confident, using it to heave even 15" mullet into the current. This rod is strong! Great purchase.

My first 10ft surf rod
February 7, 2018
I fell in love with this rod on my first visit to tackle direct but ordered it online a little while after my visit. Great quality and finish at an affordable price. I havent got a chance to use it yet but I know it will work perfect. Sp minnows are like my faves so I figured why not give the rod a shot. I am very happy with my purchase!!!

Great Value
November 20, 2016
Good quality rod. Packs plenty of fighting power. Caught a 39" red on its first time on the surf. Had no trouble handing it.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Sensitivity
  • Value
Cons
  • Only cons are the butt cap coming loose and the casting weight range being over-rated, I could not imagine casting more than 8 ounces with it, which is fine for the use I make of it.

Can I use a 20 pound braid on a saltis 6500 to pair with this rod
1 Answer
You can put 20# braid on it but it can handle a larger diameter line and still give you alot of line. It would pair well with this rod.

Which reel is better to pair with this rod? Shimano ULT5500 or ULT14000?
1 Answer
The Ult5500 would be your best bet if your using it for artificial baits, the ULT14000 would be good for cut bait

I want to pair this rod with a Penn 7500SS spinning reel / 20 lb. mono for the striper surf. Given that the line / lure weights are the same, do you recommend the 10'6' or 11'? Fish bait rigs +50% of the time, still want to be able to sling lures in the 2.5-4 oz range.
1 Answer
Hello Michael. The 11 foot model would pair excellently with your spinfisher for fishing in the surf!

Does the saltist 4500 reel would be a good option to match with this Rod?
1 Answer
The 4500 size would be too small for this rod. We suggest going with the 5000 or 6000. They will balance out the combo much better and improve the casting distance.
