Daiwa Certate-HA Spinning Reels feature Daiwa's Mag Sealed technology. Magnetic oil, controlled by a magnetic field, forms a seal to prevent water intrusion between the reel's rotor and body, preventing its intrusion into the rotor bearing and gear box. The result is a water-tight seal with much lower friction than rubber type seals. You'll notice the light, smooth-turning feel immediately.

Certate-HA also employs Daiwa's Air Rotor and Hollow Air Bail. The Air Rotor design uses corrosion-proof ''Zaion'' carbon construction, which helps reduce weight while offering maximum strength.
Daiwa Certate-HA Spinning Reels Features:
  • Mag Sealed
  • Air Rotor of corrosion-proof Zaion carbon material for lightweight strength and sensitivity
  • 8 CRBB corrosion resistant ball bearings plus roller bearing
  • Air Bail-tubular stainless for lightweight strength, with no sharp bends to snag line
  • Digigear digitally designed and cut gearing–ultra smooth, ultra powerful and ultra durable
  • High speed retrieve
  • Lightweight aluminum body
  • Waterproof drag combines stainless and Teflon-impregnated felt discs for ultra-smooth fish stopping power–with precision click adjustment
  • Lightweight, forged and machined aluminum ABSII Spool

Horrible Customer Service

Go with another brand. If you need to get something fixed at Daiwa you are really rolling the dice. Their service people are rude and incompetent. I have 15 to 20 Daiwa reels and rods, I sent a couple reels to their service headquarters because my local guy said he couldn't get the necessary parts and it was better to have them do it. Long story short, I will not buy another Daiwa rod or reel ever. I have been buying them for over 25 years but never again. For comparison sake, I also have sent reels into Penn and Shimano and rods to St. Croix and Crowder and their service people have been professional, competent and fair.

3000HA in the Surf
October 29, 2015
Used the 3000HA on the California coast for about three years. Used primarily for lighter game but have caught lots of stripers up to 15 lbs, good sized flat fish, and even a few accidental steelheads up 12 lbs. Loaded up with 10 or 15 lbs braid and matched with a 9' 8" fast action rod rated to 1.25 oz lures, allowed for very long casts (100 yds+ easily) with small jigs. Handled everything in the surf I hooked since the beaches I fished did not have too many obstructions to be concerned with. Just needed more time to tire out the bigger fish. Used the longer rod since the large spool diameter and reverse tapered spool released line fast which seemed to cause less chance for tangles/wind knots during the cast than with my shorter (less than 8') rods.

I have no idea how long the mag oil will hold up but after ~three years and 100+ fishing trips, including fighting some good sized fish, the reel performs exactly the same as the first trip. Can't say the same with other reels, but have not noticed any wear so far. All I have done for maintenance is rinse the salt off with freshwater and dry in reasonably ventilated area. I guess you get what you pay for but compared to other reels, one of the best reels I have used. Only complaint is that, given the price, a spare spool was not included.

Pros
  • Very durable and smooth performance
Cons
  • No spare spool

Is this a good real for finesse fishing? When will it be back in stock?

1 Answer
Hi Alex, The Daiwa Certate would be a excellent choice for Finesse Fishing for smaller fish like smallmouth and largemouth. If you tell us more about your fishing applications with this reel we can help guide you furfher on what size. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
