This Rod is a Beast
September 22, 2020
I have four of these in 12 ft heavy casting and 1 of the 12 ft Spin Surf Rods. I also have two 10 ft casting rods and a 10 ft spinning surf rod.

To began with the rod is a little heavy but that's ok. It aids with achievement of a good surf heave rather than a snap cast.

I am basically a multffiplier fishermen.
I only have the spinning rods for people who come fishing with me as they don't have to learn to cast a multffiplier.

The 12 ft rods have Shimano Torium 30s on them and the 10 ft have ABU 7000 reels.

They cast like a dream I routinely get 170 to 200 yard casts out of the 12 ft rods and 140 to 175 yards from the 10 ft rods.

Both have taken multiple 40 inch plus Redfish and Black Drum with ease. The 12 ft has also handled a 7 ft Bull Shark and a 5 ft diameter Stingray.

I have fished them hard for about 3 years and the only wear and year is the guides have a little green discoloration from the saltwater.

Yea! If you're a championship tournament caster you might be willing to spend $400+ for a surf rod but for fishing and whooping the bug ones this rod can't be beat for the price.

Love the rod and TackleDirect
July 2, 2018
Planning a trip to the Texas coast in July. Going to spend most of my time surf fishing this time instead of fishing the channels. I needed two casting surf rods for my reels. After doing a lot of research, decided to go with the Beefsticks.TackleDirect was the only store that had them in stock. Was worried about the shipping after reading the horror stories from other sites about the rods being broken. TackleDirect does it right. The tubes that they ship the rods in are indestructible. I will purchase all my future rods from them. They are awesome! The rods? So far so good. Have not used them yet, but Beefstick definitely means Beef! From playing with them, I think I could haul a car in out of the surf. The rods are a heavy rod, made for chunking heavy bait. Quality seams awesome. Will no more at the end of July.
Pros
  • Fast Shipping
  • Protection during Shipping
  • Quality
  • Sturdiness
  • Price
Cons
  • Haven't found any yet.

12 ft surf, heavy rod, but super strong. I refuse to pay $400 for a blank, I bought this, shaved it down, changed real seat to heavy duty, and replaced guides. Other than a little heavy, I’ll put this to the test at the outer banks. Tight lines🤨
Pros
  • Strong , well worth the $40
Cons
  • A little heavy

Great affordable surf rod

I bought two 12 foot Beefsticks and put Penn 140Ls on them. They cast very well and are sensitive to fish hitting the bait. Very nice looking rods too!

Great bait rod
July 5, 2017
I wanted a strong rod with which to fish chunk bait. This rod is perfect, great casting and strong. The rod could be heavier than a plugging rod because continual casting will not be done for this application. Fiberglass is perfect for it.
Pros
  • Strength and weight make it perfect for a chunking rod.
Cons
  • Weight of rod.

Outstanding Bang For Your Buck
April 15, 2015
One of the best bangs for your hard earned buck out there. Plenty of backbone for fighting those big red drum bulls at Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke, and Cape Lookout, yet sensitive enough for catching those puppy drums as well. Eventhough rated for up to 8oz, I have thrown 6oz weight and 3-4oz of bait with no problems. I predict that this rod will give me years of good service. I would buy another another or two, without hesitation. Would have given it 5 stars instead of 4 stars (wish there was a 4.5), if the eyes were a tad stronger.
Pros
  • Plenty of strength for casting heavy weights plus bait catching those big 30, 40, and 50 pound red drums, stripers, or catfish. Long handle for really putting the pressure on those big fish. The distance from reel seat to the first eye is 32", which is the optimum distance for my Penn 350M LeveLine reels.
Cons
  • The eyes, while sufficiently stong, could be stronger. Heavier rod than most of your graphite rods.

I recently purchased two fishing rod's from Tackle Direct. I did a lot of research on line, and not only was it the lowest price, but the shipping was very reasonable and fast. I would definitely recommend Tackle Direct to anyone looking for a good deal!!
