Use for bottom fishing paired with a penn 220 gto reel and 30lb line. Works great for hauling up rock cod, sometimes two at a time and a 10 to 16 ounce weight. Rod has lots of backbone but is a touch on the heavy side. Great rod for the price.

How is this for trolling stretch 25's for stripers? If so what reel is recommended. Thanks

That rod is a little too heavy for trolling stretch 25's, I would looking into something like the Daiwa BFBT70MHR Beefstick BT Conventional Boat Rods, this specific model is very similar to the trolling rod you're looking at, only it is rated for a lighter lure (1-5oz) while still being able to handle a heavier lure of your choosing, and can handle fighting a fat bass. While the trolling Beefstick is only rated for lures 4oz and up. Also, the trolling Beefstick is awfully heavy for fighting bass, it may take the fun out of the fight. So, I would recommend checking out the conventional models of the Beefstick... http://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-bfbt70mhr-beefstick-bt-conventional-boat-rod.html And I would match it with a reel similar to the Daiwa Sealine SLW Levelwind Reels ( http://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-sealine-slw-levelwind-reels.html ), the 30 or 50. The 50 holds much more line than the 30 does. Or check out the Daiwa Saltist Black Gold Super High Speed Conventional Reels ( http://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-saltist-black-gold-supper-high-speed-conventional-reels.html ) either the 40 or the 50, I would lean more towards the 40.

How do you think this rod will fair with a penn senator 12/0 or 14/0 for shark fishing? It said 50 lb line class, But I am thinking about 80 + lbs

What kind of sharks are you going for? Depending on the species, and that you want to use a heavier line, I would probably suggest using a heavier rod for the fishing that you are doing.

Is this rod a good match with an Abu 5500 C3 for fluke, sea bass and black fish from a party boat? If not, what would you recommend?

The Diawa rod you mention is a fiberglass rod, indestructible but not sensitive.Take a look at the Tsunami (TSU-0044) Airwave Inshore. It it much more sensitive and strong enough to handle all of the species you mentioned.

Is this a good rod for fishing the pier
1 Answers
Yes, this rod can be good for pier fishing but, it depends on how you are fishing and what for. It is a little short of you need to cast very far. It is also a heavy rod, so it maybe too big for smaller size fish. If you are basically dropping straight down or just pitching bait a short distance away from pilings, it will work fine.
