That rod is a little too heavy for trolling stretch 25's, I would looking into something like the Daiwa BFBT70MHR Beefstick BT Conventional Boat Rods, this specific model is very similar to the trolling rod you're looking at, only it is rated for a lighter lure (1-5oz) while still being able to handle a heavier lure of your choosing, and can handle fighting a fat bass. While the trolling Beefstick is only rated for lures 4oz and up. Also, the trolling Beefstick is awfully heavy for fighting bass, it may take the fun out of the fight. What kind of sharks are you going for? Depending on the species, and that you want to use a heavier line, I would probably suggest using a heavier rod for the fishing that you are doing.

The Diawa rod you mention is a fiberglass rod, indestructible but not sensitive.Take a look at the Tsunami (TSU-0044) Airwave Inshore. It it much more sensitive and strong enough to handle all of the species you mentioned.

Yes, this rod can be good for pier fishing but, it depends on how you are fishing and what for. It is a little short of you need to cast very far. It is also a heavy rod, so it maybe too big for smaller size fish. If you are basically dropping straight down or just pitching bait a short distance away from pilings, it will work fine.
