Introducing ZeeBaaS ZX2 Series manual pickup spinning reels from the original creator of the Van Staal reels. The ZX 20, ZX 22, ZX 25, and ZX 27 are available in an all-silver or deep black finish.

The ZX 22, ZX 25, and ZX 27 manual bail models are also available in a red/silver finish made exclusively for TackleDirect.

The all-new design of the ZX2 is defined by its true right -or left-hand use, strength, power to weight ratio (40 lb. drag / 20 oz weight), and an extremely powerful, smooth drag system. As always, the ZX can sustain full and constant submersion in salt water without affecting its performance or ceramic finish. The result is an uncompromising spinning reel that sets a new benchmark for fishing reel sophistication and shapes consumer expectations for how a spinning reel can be used.

Delivering unmistakable style and meticulous craftsmanship, the ZX2 Series is a result of the combination of the ZeeBaaS tradition of engineering innovation and a keen desire to blend design with simplicity.

Brilliant design and a pleasure to use

I own 2 ZeeBaaS reels - a ZX-22 Bailed and a ZX-25 Single pickup. I have landed an 80lb monster Mulloway with the ZX-25 and can honestly say from that experience alone that this reel is simply the best I've ever used. Smooth easily controlled drag and plenty of engine room power to put you in total control. If you drop it in the sand, no big deal just wash it off in the surf and keep on turning the handle. I find that the weight of the reel perfectly balances out a 12 or 13.5 foot surf rod. Well worth the investment as it will last a lifetime with just a simple yearly maintenance.
Pros
  • Exceptional build quality, smooth, configurable to different sized spools, selection of handles and knobs, strong gearing and amazing stopping power.
Cons
  • None that I can identify.

Hardcore Surf Reel

This ZB27 is a workhorse. I have beaten the heck out of mine and it keeps going. I have it paired with a Lamellas Infinity 11' and it is a perfect match. You can dunk it, swim with it and put it in sand and it won't fail!

ZX-25 is the best reel in the universe
September 11, 2015
I have about 10 different reels that I mostly use to fish for stripers. This is by far my favorite. I switch this reel between my St Croix Legend Surf Spinning 10/6 MFMH and my CTS S8. Second place goes to my VSX200 but the ZeeBaas is just a couple notches above and is also made in the USA, not sure if anyone cares where their reel is made but I do. Also is great living 30 minutes from Stratford, just dropped it off for a service and had it back the next day, complete with 2nd pickup and roller arm!
Pros
  • good looking, strong, perfectly designed
Cons
  • expensive

I fish in very harsh conditions. From jersey beaches to Montauk to block island. I have swam, dunked, got sand in it and the reel just keeps performing.I have the zx25.
Pros
  • Zx25 light enough for a 10' rod to an 11' rod. It's the only reel I use for my custom st Croix 10', my 10'6" legend and my 11' fiberstar composites maruader.
Cons
  • None!!!!!

The RS and the RD tell you how many line rollers that the reel has to pickup line. The RS is a single line roller, while the RD is a dual line roller.
