Keeps rods safe and from tangling when you have 5 in the car. Keeps guides out if harms way. Protect your investment. Desert camo is the thickest sleeve they make. For offshore conventionals i use spinning rod gloves so it fits over the guides

The description says these are 5 1/4 ft. long. Is that the total usable length or do they have some kind of tip on one end which would shorten the usable length a little more? Your pictures doesn't show the top end of them.

The end is folded over and stiched closed, the seam is a 1/2 inch of unusable material.
