I have paired the hooks to the bait. After figuring out how they mated, they were a perfect fit. I have not had the opportunity to try them yet, but will be doing so soon.

i have been a Gamakatsu and Owner fan for many years, but was always open to something that may be better. this hook is it! i first used the vmc wide gap worm hook with great success because of the exaggerated "Z" part of the offset bend. it simply held the worm in place better than the other hooks i was using. the points on these hooks are also super sharp, on par with anything out of japan. i also like the slim sliver of a barb these hooks have, making it easier to set the hook and yet enough of a barb to keep the hook from backing out. the real kicker is that the vmc costs so much less per hook without giving up any strength, sharpness, or ease of rigging. the real bonus to these hooks is the "xl" version of the hook. on most other hooks, the bait is held on by only about 1/4" to 3/8" of the nose, which tears when you set the hook, ruining the worm. the shank on the "xl" is much longer, so it holds the worm better, doesn't tear as easily, and is good for a few more fish per worm.

Great hook for plastic. Deep shank can hold the plastic head securly.
vmc is always sharp..
