One of the reasons I love the Van Staal VR series is its ability to be two reels in one ... I can switch from 175 to 200 sized spools in flash and give my reel the capacity to use two different sized braids for different applications.

How do I know what "gen" my reel is?

Hi Bryan, The biggest main differences that you should notice is the Drag Knob on the Gen 1 series are thin and small compared to the Gen 2 series. Most importantly, if you remove the spool off of your reel, The main shaft will be very thin on the Gen 1 series and very thick on the Gen 2 series Van Staal VR reels. This is the easiest giveaway as to what Generation your Van Staal VR is.
