I always use my gopro out on a boat and this works perfectly. The yellow float doesn't show up in pictures and it is very solidly built and extends easily with no problems.

Nobody's fault but my own, i didnt realize this would not telescope, it is fixed length. also, it is much bigger than i had anticipated but i assume i will have no issue with it floating on the surface.
