Built to bring the legendary Ugly Stik toughness to a wide range of both saltwater and freshwater fishing techniques, the Ugly Stik Tiger Spinning Rods make the perfect all around boat rod. Stout actions and the ability to handle heavier weights and lines make them ideal for bottom fishing and light trolling. The rod blanks in this versatile series feature Ugly Tech construction that allows for superior strength while still retaining the sensitivity necessary to detect those smaller bites, while the Ugly Tuff one piece stainless steel guides resist corrosion and eliminate insert pop-outs. All models feature comfortable EVA handles fitted with a rubber gimbal, making them ready for both rod holders and fighting belts. All Ugly Stik Tiger Rods are backed by a 7 year limited warranty.

Ugly tough and awesome

I have owned this rod for around 5 years and caught a lot of fish with it. It has a surprisingly sensitive tip which is good for detecting Halibut and other subtle bites and also has a ton of fish fighting power. I have hauled in multiple fish over 40lbs with ease thanks to this rod. This rod lives up to the ugly stik reputation for durability as well.
Pros
  • Durability, sensitivity, backbone
Cons
  • None

Will a 4000 reel pair with this rod?
1 Answer
Hi James, A 3000-4000 size reel would be a great size. I would recommend a Penn BTLIII4000 Battle III Spinning Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-btliii4000-battle-iii-spinning-reel.html This would pair geat with the Ugly Stik USTB2050S701 Tiger Spinning Rod.for a many saltwater fishing applications. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Will this be a good rod to use with a penn pursuit 3 8000? And also can it handle 80 pound braid?
1 Answer
These rods would best pair up with a Pursuit III 5000 or 6000 and 80lb braid can be used, but would be well more than what the rod is rated for.
