Ugly Stik Tiger Elite Spinning Rods take the legendary Ugly Stik formula that provides unparalleled strength and durability and refines it with sleek, performance minded features. excellent product at an extremely fair price point

You can easily spend $200. + hard earned dollars on a very nice St. Croix, Shimano or similar high end rod, or you can spend $79. on the equivalent Ugly Stik Elite series rod and be very happy, for on average a 1/3 of the cost.

I recently took this new rod to the Everglades National park where we caught Snook, Tarpon, Seatrout, Drum, etc, and it was an absolute joy to use. Lightweight, ergonomic grips, & stainless steel guides with no inserts to fall out.

This is a great line of rods for those who demand performance at an affordable price. If you happen to break one of these rods (I never have in 40 years) you can always purchase 3 more for less than one rod from the overpriced competition!

I was super surprised on how sensitive this rod was for a heavy compared to my medium-heavy rods I was used to. Nice overall feel.

Sensitive, Rugged, yet Pretty!
September 12, 2019
Great rod, just used it a few weeks ago at the NC coast fishing off a couple of piers and also the surf. The one piece stainless guides allow braid to pass through easily and I was confident an insert wouldn't pop out. Also, I was amazed with the sensitivity.....able to detect small nibbles from croakers for a rod that is labelled "heavy." If Shakespeare made longer sizes, I'd have each of them in my fleet of rods.
Pros
  • Very sensitive, extremely durable, and real pretty to look at!

what is the difference between the tiger and the tiger elite rods? is one stronger than the other? what are the changes in the blanks and the actions?
1 Answer
Hi Chris, The Ugly Tech blanks used for the Tiger Elite Series utilize a higher graphite content than the standard Ugly Tiger Rods, making them lighter and more sensitive, while still retaining the toughness you'd expect from an Ugly Stik. The Ugly Stik Tiger Elite series have diamond shrink tube wrapped rear handles with EVA foregrips and the Ugly Stick Tiger series have EVA handles fitted with a rubber gimbal. The Ugly Stik Tiger Elite Series use a lighter and stronger blank than that of the Ugly Stik Tiger Series which are heavier and more stout graphite blanks. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

going black fishing on a boat. would this Ugly Sick Tiger Elite Spinning Rod 7 heavy be enough?
1 Answer
Hi Charis, The Ugly Stik Tiger Elite Spinning Rod model: USTE1440S701; TackleDirect Code: SHA-0380 would be fine for tog jigging and bait use. Keep in mind the lure rating is only recommended to 5oz. So I woudn't recommend using more than 5oz weights on this rod. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
