Built to bring the legendary Ugly Stik toughness to a wide range of both saltwater and freshwater fishing techniques, the Ugly Stik Tiger Casting Rods make the perfect all around conventional boat rod. Stout actions and the ability to handle heavier weights and line make them ideal for bottom fishing and light trolling. The rod blanks in this versatile series feature Ugly Tech construction that allows for superior strength while still retaining the sensitivity necessary to detect those smaller bites, while the Ugly Tuff one piece stainless steel guides resist corrosion and eliminate insert pop-outs. All models feature comfortable EVA handles fitted with a rubber gimbal, making them ready for both rod holders and fighting belts. All Ugly Stik Tiger Rods are backed by a 7 year limited warranty.

2050 great for trolling salmon with a ball or waiting for the sturgeon bite.
Soft tip to see bites before they know lunch has a hook!

Use a 7ft light version for jetty fish bass and sea trout. Good sensitivity and comfy grip. Good price.

replacements
November 16, 2021
I needed replacement rods for the two older ugly stick rods I have used for over 15 years fishing off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. I have landed Sheepshead, Snapper, Grouper, and Sharks with the rods. Over the years the eyes got stepped on, bent and crushed causing them to break. While I could not get the exact replacement, these rods will work if they are as good as the old ones.
We will see when I get back to the Gulf of Mexico and get back to fishing/CATCHING again.
Pros
  • SEEMS STRONG, FEELS GOOD IN HAND, THE EYES LOOK STRONG AND LIKE THEY WILL LAST A LONG TIME.
Cons
  • IT WAS NOT THE SAME AS THE OLD RODS I HAD, I REALLY DON'T CARE FOR THE COLOR

I fished these for years and caught hundreds of fish with these rods. You can't beat the price and performance.

Great rod for the money
December 3, 2019
I have 5 of these and have used them for the past 3 years with no issues. We troll, cast and jig with them for stripers and spanish mackerel. I am going to buy a few more for my spinning reels for next season.

Can I bottom fish for Rockfish and Lingcod with the 30-60lb rod? Ill be pairing it up with a Penn Jigmaster 500. I know it is rated 1oz-8oz lures but can I use 16oz lures?
1 Answer
16oz lures would be to heavy but the rod choice is spot on for rockfish and lingcod
