Awesome Rod
June 2, 2021
On my first offshore trip of the year I was lucky enough to land a 50 Pound Blue Fin Tuna and a 35 Pound Golden Tile Fish on the Tsunami Tuff Tip Rod. From the Jig Strike of a Blue Fin to the Torque of a Golden Tile this rod handled every bit of stress with ease! Awesome price point also!! I will be buying more!!
Pros
  • This rod offers the best bang for your buck on the market!
Cons
  • Zero cons!

Great looking standup rod

Got this to pair with a Penn 309 reel and it looks pretty solid. I have not used it yet, but will be using for trolling for striped bass and bluefish, maybe small tunas.

best rod brand out there for the price
July 17, 2018
They are literally manufactured around the corner from where i live ( less than 5 miles) in Mahwah NJ and are truly fantastic. I would recommend this company to anyone, plain and simple. This is my current pole from bottom fishing to Mahi Mahi and even smaller sharks. I even caught a 300+lb shark on my tsunami reel rated for 40 lb and my tsunami pole rated for 80-100 pound line in a chum slick 10 ft from the boat and wrenched him in. My father went out and bought a $300 custom rod years back for it's lightness and sensitivity, but when i handed him my rod to hold so i could get a sandwich, he he wouldn't give it back and went out and bought one of these. The thing is so sensitive you can literally feel the types of ocean floor terrain you are on, and distinguish bites from that, and also it is light as a feather.
Pros
  • Well worth the money. Very sensitive. Light as a feather. Strong poles. Very good looking.
Cons
  • Absolutely none. Best rod i have ever used, and i have used a lot!

which rod would match up best with a 113H Senator Reel? It will be used to troll for ocean striper using mojos.
1 Answer
Hi Ed, Based on your fishing application I would recommend a Tsunami TTSU-601H Tuff Tip Stand-Up Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/tsunami-ttsu-601h-tuff-tip-stand-up-rod.html This would pair well with a Penn 113H and be good for trolling mojos for stripers and bluefish. Will the 50-80 heavy rod pair well with a penn fathom 40nld?

Is it a good rod for flylinning and possibly dropping a 100 gram jig?  (Flat fall)

30-80lb bluefin tuna btw

Thank you.

1 Answer
Hi David, We do not recommend the Tsunami Tuff Tip for fly lining and recommend the Daiwa Proteus rod in either 7'6 Heavy or X-Heavy for this application ( https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-proteus-wn-saltwater-rods.html ). It will be okay using 100g jigs but will not be the best option as it is not designed for jigging. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

When will these rods be available?  Can they be pre-ordered?

1 Answer
Hi James, the Tsunami Tuff Tip Stand-Up Rods have been discontinued. I would recommend taking a look at the ANDE Stand-Up Rods. https://www.tackledirect.com/ande-stand-up-rods.html. These are also very affordable Stand-Up rods. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

I have a penn rival15lw. Which rod would be good for sea bass and black fish?
1 Answer
Yeah these should definitely work together, If you're running 20-50lb line, go with the 6' MH. If you're fishing 60- 80lb go with the 6'H.
