Arrived quickly and in secure packaging. Very glad to see reported specifications were accurate. Rod is very light and easy to manipulate for the first time surf caster. Paired well with a Diawa BG4500.

Crazy good deal for the price.

For starters, I think this rod is way underpriced for how well it performs and how well it is constructed with excellent components. It's a 70/30 2 piece but feels like a 1 piece. The 8.5' size inconjunction with it's medium power and action is absolutley perfect for chucking lighter lures a huge distance. I use it with 2 4000 size reels, one with 15lb braid and one with 20lb braid. I'm able to sling small jigs a good distance with little effort. It has great action and good backbone for bringing in larger fish. It is classefied as a surf rod but not only is it great for fishing on the shoreline of a beach but this particular rod excells on the jettys and piers as well. It is a joy to use while wading the flats for me. If I ever see it on sale below its retail price im going to buy another to add to my collection just based on general principle.

Good Conventional Surf-Casting Rod at Reasonable Price
May 12, 2022
To be fair, I only just finished setting up the reel (Penn Squall) and have not taken this setup out fishing yet, so this is highly preliminary. This is a rod built for casting bait and weight is the perfect size for Northeast U.S.A. striped bass and bluefishing.
Pros
  • Light, correct size for striped bass and bluefishing in the Northeast USA.
Cons
  • Too early for me to judge cons.

I have the 7ft med rod for throwing 1 oz halco twistys for spanish mackerel on the surf. It performs amazingly.I have the 8ft med heavy for fishing jetties and it performs well throwing 3 oz weights with cut bait for bull red's.The 10ft med heavy is my go to when fishing the surf for pompano. You can't beat the quality of these rods for the price. If i ever need another fishing rod i will be looking at Tsunami first.

Great vacation surf rod
March 10, 2022
I bought this rod after some study on both price. And real use function. It was great my first time out. So I bought 2 more 9 ft 10 ft 7 ft. 7 ft has been my best for close running pompano. 9 med heavy is great on blue fish, some Spanish mackerel, throwing 4 oz weights.
Pros
  • Price for sure, available,

After seeing a lot of people use this rod on YouTube, I finally decided to get one myself. I can say for the price, this is an awesome surf rod. Caught a bunch of stripers and blues from the surf with ease and rod is still going strong.
Pros
  • Nice guides
  • Casts well
  • Light to carry
  • Loads up nicely
  • Strong backbone to pull in fish

Good Rod, A Little Noodley
December 3, 2021
I have enjoyed this rod a lot since I have gotten it and caught plenty of fish with it just have a couple gripes about it. First, it's a two piece rod but its a short piece with the handle then a long piece with all the guides. It's just a little awkward storing and transporting and at that point in my mind you might as well have a one piece rod. Second, the rods action is a little noodley. By that I mean that when the rod bends it bends in the middle of the rod and not at the tip. There isn't as much of a backbone to it as I would expect out of a 10ft rod. Other than that, its a good rod.

Trophy II 8’
October 25, 2021
Bought one for my wife’s birthday and immediately ordered another for myself. This is a great little do all rod. Pier, jetty and surf. I tie the two pieces together with nite ize and go anywhere. Paired with a Spinfisher vi 4500, 30# j braid.
Pros
  • Light setup
Cons
  • Wondering if it would be better as a 60/40 split. Not a true con.

This is a 10' surf rod that was in two sections. However, the rod is not in two 5" sections, it is in a 3' section (grip/reel) and a 7' section (eyes). When you attempt to break the pole down for transit, the line on the reel starts to unravel because there are no eyes on the shorter section to keep the line pulled forward. Once the rod is separated into its two parts keeping the shock leader line from coming off requires extra hassle. You will need to wrap the spool with a rubber band or Velcro strip to prevent the line from slipping from the reel, which then leaves a lot of extra loose line on the pole to get tangled as you try to grab the two pole ends and the line and secure the poles together. After several trips, the pole has been retired.

I purchased this rod because the rods I usually get are always out of stock. It was half the price of all my other rods yet it’ll sling heavy baits just as well. It’s got enough back bone for heavy fish yet light enough to detect those tiny bites before my bait gets picked up. Time will tell how it holds up. Definitely worth the money so far.
