The new Trophy Series Spinning Slow Pitch Jigging Rods from Tsunami are constructed with the most modern and durable carbon fiber available! Each ultra-thin profile blank features a compact multi-layer design to deliver power, sensitivity and extraordinary flex under all circumstances. The high density layered blank construction uses Omni-directional scrim at the core for excellent internal hoop strength, resilient unidirectional power, with tip-to-butt fibers for finely tuned actions and unparalleled sensitivity. The result is a light, strong, powerful and sensitive rod which combines proven superior lifting power with fast sensitive blank recovery! Whether used for light tackle or heavy duty applications Trophy Slow Pitch Rods will balance with today’s compact spinning reels for a featherweight outfit that can perform like gear twice its size! Whether you are deep jigging reef fish, pulling tog from an underwater lair, or drifting for summer flounder, these super strong and incredibly sensitive rods will alert you to the lightest pick up or the most violent strike almost before it happens.

All models are braid ready with only the best of Fuji components selected for durability and longevity. Slow Pitch models feature genuine Fuji® Deep Pressed Concept “O” guides throughout. Fuji® graphite reel seats are selected for strength, corrosion resistance and light weight. Grips are durable, lightweight, high density EVA and custom contoured for plenty of comfort regardless of the technique used. All guides are precisely wrapped and finished with a tough epoxy coating. While they will excel at the new and growing Slow Pitch jigging techniques, Trophy Slow pitch models are versatile enough to take on plenty of other salt water applications and excel in any number of situations.

Excellent rod can be used inshore
February 20, 2022
This is a great rod when paired with a 5000 size reel. its light and can cast but not heavy jigs. stick to the 30-60g range. the rod is more about finesse and not advisable for use in heavy cover. otherwise its great playing fish and 40 pound braid is the sweet spot.

Got this rod for multiple uses, some back bay fluking as well as blackfish jigging/jetty use. the rod is well balanced and responsive. I actually like the squareness of the eva grips.
Pros
  • Well balanced, so far so good for bay fluking/jigging. Looking forward to putting to use for togging. Great cost for the product.

Slow Pitch?? yet it's a good porgy & blackfish rod
June 13, 2018
Slow Pitch?? yet it's a good Bluefish jigging rod.
I tested this Tsunami TSSPJS-601MH Trophy Series Slow Pitch Jigging Spinning Rod for Mackerel, Bonito, Bluefish, and False Albacore light jigging in 2017 and Porgy bottom fishing in June 2018. I also have Tsunami SWSPS601-M Slim Wave Spinning Rod and I like to use Slim wave for bottom fishing. The sensitivity is better and I can swing fish over the boat better. Yet, Trophy Series Slow Pitch rod is better for LIGHT JIGGING NOT SLOW PITCH JIGGING. it doesn't provide the slow pitch action that I would like but it does provide a fair action for light jigging. Specially, New England Striper and Bluefish diamond jigging action.
Pros
  • good for light jigging
  • fair price
  • light weight
Cons
  • poor finish on EVA handle
  • top guides are very small so it's good for 30lbs braid

Light as a feather strong as a bull
January 14, 2018
Was looking at this rod and finally got to test it out. Picked it up and new right away it was EXACTLY what I wanted. Killer fluke rod, jigging seabass, blackfish jigging, jigging stripers, casting shads, clamming, eeling and with a heavy enough reel livelining bunker can all be done with this. Balanced fantastically to be fished all day without fatigue

Would the MH be good for jigging plastics and 1/4 crabs for larger red fish, sheepshead and stripper? Paired with a spinfisher VI 3500/45000
1 Answer
The medium heavy would be fine. Slow Pitch rods are very parabolic meaning how they flex nearly all the way to foregrip. They are super strong strong rods.

Does the rod tip of this rod flex while your jigging or just when you have a fish on?
1 Answer
The Tsunami slow pitch rods are parabolic meaning they are designed to flex far down the blank to create the slow pitch jigging effect

The 4000 and while you can use this reel for blackfish jigging there are better options that will balance out better with the heavy Tsunami Trophy Series Slow Pitch Jigging Spinning Rods

Either one would suffice but if your using heavier jigs you may want to consider the heavy as opposed to the medium heavy.

Hi, which would the model for using jigs maximum of 6 oz? and would a kona sirius L30 reel feet in there?

Thanks!

1 Answer
Hi Alvaro, Unfortunately the heaviest model: TSSPJ-S701H has a Lure Weight rating of : 1 3/4oz - 4 1/4 oz. This would not be heavy enough to use with 6oz sinkers or jigs. Instead I would recommend a Tsunami TSCSHDIISPS-761XHB Carbon Shield II Slow Pitch Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/tsunami-tscshdiisps-761xhb-carbon-shield-ii-slow-pitch-spinning-rod.html This would work great with 6oz jigs and sinkers and be ideal for both jigging and bottom fishing applications. would the TTSPJH 7D1H-7 work with nichols 9 inch flutter spoons for stripers?
1 Answer
Hi Frank, The Tsunami TSSPJS-701H Trophy Series Slow Pitch Jigging Spinning Rod would be a little light to use due to the lure weight rating max at 4 1/4 oz. The Nichols Lures Ben Parker Super Magnum Spoon - 9in weighs 4.5oz. For this reason I would recommend the TackleDirect TDSSJ63M Silver Hook Series Spin Jigging Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/tackledirect-tdssj63m-custom-saltwater-spin-jigging-rod.html This rod has a lure weight of 200grams or 7oz and is the same price as the Tsunami Series Slow Pitch Rod and would be ideal for fishing for stripers. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Would I be able to use this rod for heavy bass fishing?

Frogging/Punching/ & 1oz lure chucking?

1 Answer
The Tsunami Trophy Series Slow Pitch Jigging Spinning Rods are intended to be used for slow pitch jigging rods for saltwater. I would recommend a St. Croix PS70HF Premier Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/croixps70hf.html This rod is a Heavy, Fast action rod that has the sensitive tip but also backbone needed to work frog lures and is able to pull largemouth out of structure. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

The Tsunami Trophy Series Slow Pitch rod TSSPJS-661MH will pair nicely with the Shimano Saragosa 6000.  It just depends on what you are targeting as to which rod is a better choice.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Looking to pair ssv4500 with 20lb braid for jigging 1-3oz. jigs for snappers, mackerel, sea bass, football tunas. Which rod would you recommend, M or MH? Need enough backbone to bully fish from rocks and sharks sometimes and or sling at busting fish.

Thanks.

1 Answer
The MH would be my recommendation. Not only will it give you more power on your hook set when jigging, but also more strength against the bigger fish. This will also increase your popping/topwater capabilities as well.

Does this rod have to be jigged only? Can you bait fish with it?

Bunker chunk while anchored or live line. Regular Hook and sinker topped with spearing and squid ?

1 Answer
These are designed for a specific jigging style, we do not recommend this rod for your application.

Does the spinning series has the split butt as in photos. ? And is it good match for Socorro 5000/6000 and
Shimano baitrunner 4000D ?
1 Answer
Yes, the spinning series does have the split grip. The Socorro 5000/600 would be OK for the heavy and the 4000

will work on the med. heavy or heavy.

would the 6,0 MH spinning rod be good for diamond jigging for seabass with jigs up to 3 oz? I already use the slimwaves for this and they are great.
1 Answer
That would be good for jigging sea bass. Usually with slow pitch rods you're overloading them with weight when jigging.

still confused as to what slow pitch is vs the standard tsunami jigging rod?
1 Answer
Slow pitch rods have very specific actions. They are thin in diameter, highly resilient blanks. Their guides and reel seats are designed for maximum sensitivity. They have a slow tapered parabolic action that easily bends deep through the whole length whilst jerking and reeling.
