This is a great rod when paired with a 5000 size reel. its light and can cast but not heavy jigs. stick to the 30-60g range. the rod is more about finesse and not advisable for use in heavy cover. otherwise its great playing fish and 40 pound braid is the sweet spot.

Got this rod for multiple uses, some back bay fluking as well as blackfish jigging/jetty use. the rod is well balanced and responsive. I actually like the squareness of the eva grips.

- Well balanced, so far so good for bay fluking/jigging. Looking forward to putting to use for togging. Great cost for the product.

Slow Pitch?? yet it's a good Bluefish jigging rod.
I tested this Tsunami TSSPJS-601MH Trophy Series Slow Pitch Jigging Spinning Rod for Mackerel, Bonito, Bluefish, and False Albacore light jigging in 2017 and Porgy bottom fishing in June 2018. I also have Tsunami SWSPS601-M Slim Wave Spinning Rod and I like to use Slim wave for bottom fishing. The sensitivity is better and I can swing fish over the boat better. Yet, Trophy Series Slow Pitch rod is better for LIGHT JIGGING NOT SLOW PITCH JIGGING. it doesn't provide the slow pitch action that I would like but it does provide a fair action for light jigging. Specially, New England Striper and Bluefish diamond jigging action.

Was looking at this rod and finally got to test it out. Picked it up and new right away it was EXACTLY what I wanted. Killer fluke rod, jigging seabass, blackfish jigging, jigging stripers, casting shads, clamming, eeling and with a heavy enough reel livelining bunker can all be done with this. Balanced fantastically to be fished all day without fatigue

The medium heavy would be fine. Slow Pitch rods are very parabolic meaning how they flex nearly all the way to foregrip. They are super strong strong rods.

Hi Alvaro, Unfortunately the heaviest model: TSSPJ-S701H has a Lure Weight rating of : 1 3/4oz - 4 1/4 oz. This would not be heavy enough to use with 6oz sinkers or jigs. Instead I would recommend a Tsunami TSCSHDIISPS-761XHB Carbon Shield II Slow Pitch Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/tsunami-tscshdiisps-761xhb-carbon-shield-ii-slow-pitch-spinning-rod.html This would work great with 6oz jigs and sinkers and be ideal for both jigging and bottom fishing applications. The Nichols Lures Ben Parker Super Magnum Spoon - 9in weighs 4.5oz. The MH would be my recommendation. Not only will it give you more power on your hook set when jigging, but also more strength against the bigger fish. This will also increase your popping/topwater capabilities as well.

That would be good for jigging sea bass. Usually with slow pitch rods you're overloading them with weight when jigging.

Slow pitch rods have very specific actions. They are thin in diameter, highly resilient blanks. Their guides and reel seats are designed for maximum sensitivity. They have a slow tapered parabolic action that easily bends deep through the whole length whilst jerking and reeling.
