The new Trophy Series Conventional Slow Pitch Jigging Rods from Tsunami are constructed with the most modern and durable carbon fiber available! Each ultra-thin profile blank features a compact multi-layer design to deliver power, sensitivity and extraordinary flex under all circumstances. The high density layered blank construction uses Omni-directional scrim at the core for excellent internal hoop strength, resilient unidirectional power, with tip-to-butt fibers for finely tuned actions and unparalleled sensitivity. The result is a light, strong, powerful and sensitive rod which combines proven superior lifting power with fast sensitive blank recovery! Whether used for light tackle or heavy duty applications Trophy Slow pitch rods will balance with today’s compact conventional reels for a featherweight outfit that can perform like gear twice its size! Whether you are deep jigging reef fish, pulling tog from an underwater lair, or drifting for summer flounder, these super strong and incredibly sensitive rods will alert you to the lightest pick up or the most violent strike almost before it happens.

All models are braid ready with only the best of Fuji components selected for durability and longevity. Slow Pitch models feature genuine Fuji® Deep Pressed Concept “O” guides throughout. The conventional models are designed with a spiral wrapped guide train delivering more power and optimum load balance. Fuji® graphite reel seats are selected for strength, corrosion resistance and light weight. Grips are durable, lightweight, high density EVA and custom contoured for plenty of comfort regardless of the technique used. All guides are precisely wrapped and finished with a tough epoxy coating. While they will excel at the new and growing Slow Pitch jigging techniques, Trophy Slow pitch models are versatile enough to take on plenty of other salt water applications and excel in any number of situations.

Small reel seat limits reel selection
August 28, 2022
Had my spiral wrapped Tsunami Slow Pitch rod set up with a Seigler SG. It was fine for that. I had the Seigler on another slow pitch rod when it was lost. Bought a Penn Fathom 15XNLD 2 Speed reel to pair with this Tsunami SP rod but the reel seat is too small to fit it. Will have to buy a Penn SPJ rod I guess. Not sure will have a use for this rod any more. You might want to check at a physical store if this rod will fit first, then order from TD as they often have the best price.
Pros
  • Was a good rod with a small reel
Cons
  • Small reel seat limits reel selection, should check first so don't have to return rod or buy another reel to fit.

I have a spinning and conventional version of this rod. A little bit flimsy when it comes to jigging some heavier bucktails for fluke but it definitely gets the job done. I have it paired with a quantum accurist.

Great Rod
April 26, 2022
I have a few of these rods. The one I recommend the most is the 7 foot heavy conventional. Great all round bottom fishing rod. From fluke to sea bass to tog. If you are dropping on a deep wreck for tog or striper/drumfishing I would go with the 7’6. The only thing is that the reel seat doesn’t fit every conventional reel. I have two rods with avet sxj’s and they fit perfectly but wouldn’t seat a shimano torium 14.
Pros
  • Great Rod
Cons
  • Reel seat doesn?t fit every reel

Trophy 761XH (pics)
January 27, 2022
Haven't put this to the test yet but over the spring/summer we will see how it holds up.
We jig off the panhandle of Florida for just about everything from 30lb red snapper to 60lb+ AJs along with a handful of sharks that won't leave us along.
Decided to try something new and paired this with the Gomexus LX50 reel which will have 40lb nomad multi colored braid.
But overall this rod looks amazing and hopefully will hold up.
Pros
  • Eyes rotate to the left for right handed reels
  • Eyes look good and hopefully will last
  • XH model has the strength but extremely flexible and lightweight
  • Fairly affordable compared to other brands in its class
Cons
  • Not enough pics online of the rod
  • No room for a reel clamp
  • Will update once we have used it a few times

Hi, I'm looking to pair the TSSPJC-701XH with an Accurate BV-300-SPJ. Would this be a good match? Also, the reel seat seems to be somewhat of an issue. Will this set up mate properly at the reel seat? And finally, and this may be a dumb question, but If I order a right handed reel, does that mean I hold the rod in my right hand or does that mean I crank the reel handle with my right hand? Thanks Bud.
1 Answer
Hi Worrell, For Conventional reels Right hand retrieve indicates the handle is on the right hand side of the reel and for Left hand retrieve conventionals the handle is on the left side of the reel. The Accurate BV-300-SPJ would fit and pair well with the Tsunami TSSPJC-701XH Trophy Series Slow Pitch Jigging Casting Rod for jigging applications.
