Great fishing rod for the money
August 10, 2022
The first time I acquired one of these rods it quickly became my favorite. This rod is perfect if you need to make long and accurate casts. The line guides (especially the first or stripping guide) are larger than on comparably sized rods by other manufacturers which helps to significantly increase casting distance.
Pros
  • - Larger line guides for greater casting distance
  • - Sensitive enough to feel light bites, yet strong enough to horse a big bass out of the weeds.
Cons
  • None

6.6 MH rod
August 8, 2022
The rod is so sensitive and i am pairing it with Daiwa Legalis 3000 however the butt is too long and the rod looks shorter than 6.6,i am happy with the purchase.
I have caught so far a 7 pounder pike and a Brown Trout from lake Ontario
Pros
  • Sensitive
  • Strong backbone
  • Looks good
  • Shipping was fast
Cons
  • Butt is too long so the rod look shorter than 6.6
  • I was expecting to receive the rod in a hard tube.

takes a lot of abuse
July 28, 2022
i have been using these rods to commercial fish striped bass for the last month+ consistently fighting 30lb fish. these rods have been handling the abuse great. i have them paired with daiwa BG5000 which is a bit overkill for the rod, but for my application it works perfect. i did pop an insert out of the end guide, but easily repaired it. best rod for the money and will compete with many of the high dollar rods.
Pros
  • value and durabilty
Cons
  • cork grip is delaminating slightly
  • reel seat loosens a bit after putting a massive flex on rod

Great rod for the price
May 5, 2022
I ordered this rod in accident and was going to send it back, but I figured for $30 bucks it wasn’t worth the hassle. I’ve paired this rod with a BG3000. It’s been great for the spring tautog bite. I also used it jigging squid. Plenty of back bone to get the togs up. Great quality and you can beat the price
Pros
  • Great looking and versatile rod at at low price
Cons
  • I?ve had issues with these guides breaking easily on other tsunami rods. So far not an issue.

Can't beat it for the price.

I don't think there's a better rod you can get for twice the price of this one.
Typical quality you'd expect from a Tsunami rod.
Very capable of handling any fish I'd ever encounter in NJ inshore back bays and rivers.
I have a few five star rods because they are inexpensive enough to let the kids use them, but they're not cheap junk that I wouldn't want to use myself.
Pros
  • Great value.

Can't beat it for the price.
March 27, 2022
I recently bought the 6'6" medium heavy spinning rod.
You can't find anything in this price range that's better quality than this.
I have several of these five star rods in various models and they're all very good rods that I use myself from time to time, but also allow the kids and grandkids to use when I take them fishing.
These are real fishing rods, not toys that you'll have to be fixing and messing with all day instead of fishing.
And the cost is not much more than you'd pay for a big box Snoopy toy that might look cute, but makes taking a kid fishing more of a chore than a joy.
These are suitable for actual fishing for anyone.
Pros
  • Great value.
  • Quality you'd expect at twice the price
Cons
  • None

Stud of a rod
February 19, 2022
If you are looking for strength, good looks, and the features that make a good rod good, all at a price point that is excellent, then this is your rod. I have the 7 foot version and it is super tough but also lightweight.
Cons
  • No hookkeeper

Outstanding value
April 28, 2021
I bought this rod for inshore sound fishing at the outer banks here in NC. The length and action are outstanding for calm waters and also when the winds get heavy. It held up very good while catching flounder and bluefish. You will not be disappointed with this rod. It looks more expensive than the price you pay.
Pros
  • Price and quality
Cons
  • Should have bought more

Your best option would be the Penn Battle III DX 4000. The 4000 size will balance much better on these rods and is the better choice, overall, for this rod.

I recently bought the 7'0 MH. Would it pair nicely with a Penn 4,000 series reel or should I have went with something smaller like the 6'6 or 6'1 MH to pair with the 4,000 series reel.
1 Answer
The 7' would balance well with a 4000 Penn. I wouldn't use a 6'6'' rod with a 4000 reel. 7' will cast better and provide more leverage when battling fish.
