The all new for 2017 Tsunami Carbon Shield rods feature a solid IM9 solid carbon fiber blank that is strong yet lightweight and ultra sensitive, resulting in a rod that makes casting to, hooking, and fighting big fish as easy as it gets. On top of the premium carbon fiber blank, the Carbon Shield Rods also feature genuine Fuji aluminum oxide guides, Grade A cork fore and rear grips, and a contoured split reel seat, giving you a high quality rod at an affordable price point. Available in both 7’ and 7’6”, and medium and medium heavy actions, the Carbon Shield rods will be a great choice whether you are casting soft plastics to striped bass in the northeast or using live bait for redfish and other inshore saltwater species in the south.

nj
best rod brand out there for the price

They are literally manufactured around the corner from where i live ( less than 5 miles) in Mahwah NJ and are truly fantastic. I would recommend this company to anyone, plain and simple. This is my current pole from bottom fishing to Mahi Mahi and even smaller sharks. I even caught a 300+lb shark on my tsunami reel rated for 40 lb and my tsunami pole rated for 80-100 pound line in a chum slick 10 ft from the boat and wrenched him in. My father went out and bought a $300 custom rod years back for it's lightness and sensitivity, but when i handed him my rod to hold so i could get a sandwich, he he wouldn't give it back and went out and bought one of these. The thing is so sensitive you can literally feel the types of ocean floor terrain you are on, and distinguish bites from that, and also it is light as a feather.
Pros
  • Well worth the money. Very sensitive. Light as a feather. Strong poles. Very good looking.
Cons
  • Absolutely none. Best rod i have ever used, and i have used a lot!

I have a two piece rod that I believe the top half is cracked or broken . It’s not visible , but when I casted last I heard it crack . Is there a way to replace or repair this rod ?

Depends on how long you've had it but it may still be under warranty from Tsunami.

What is the lure weight rating for this series of rods?
1 Answer
Tsunami has not provided us with that particular information. In fact, Tsunami has discontinued production of the carbon shield rods before they were even released due to unforeseen manufacturing issues. They do plan on releasing redesigned models sometime in the near future.
