Tsunami Carbon Shield II Boat Spinning Rods are designed with ALPS Guides. Premium Hypolon grips for maximum comfort. Made with feather light IM7 graphite blanks with D16 nanotech and unique carbon fiber design. D16 Nanotech blank technology consists of multi-directional layers of IM7 carbon fiber that have been injected with nano resin and wrapped in 8 different angles which evenly disperse flexural force in 16 directions. This combination provides an extremely lightweight blank that resists twist and adds hoop strength. These rods make casting to, hooking, and fighting big fish as easy as it gets. Great choice whether you are jigging Tuna in the Northeast or battling Grouper down South.

Great Rod for the Price
May 13, 2021
Was looking for a bottom fishing/slow jigging rod for snapper in the Seychelles, this rod has great balance. I have it paired with a shimano saragossa 8000. The service from tackle direct was top notch and the sipping was fast and secure. Tsunami rods (I have two) are great rods for the money.
Pros
  • Fast, secure safe shipping.
Cons
  • none

What are the quality/strength differences between the Airwaves Elite boat rods and Carbon Shield 2 rods?

1 Answer
The Tsunami Airwave Elite Braid Casting Rods feature diamond textured shrink vinyl grips, Fuji Concept "K", Series Tangle Free Alconite Guides, Fuji Graphite Stainless Steel Reel Seats, and use a high-fiber density blank that is light and sensitive. The Tsunami Carbon Shield II Boat Spinning Rods use Hypolon grips, Anodized aluminum reel seat with stainless steel hoods, ALPS Guides, and IM7 graphite blanks with D16 Nanotech blank technology which provides an extremely lightweight blank that resists twisting. The Tsunami Carbon Shield II Boat Spinning Rods would be ideal for many saltwater fishing applications. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

For the 7ft medium 1-4oz Im considering pairing with the Evict either 4000 or 5000 for throwing plugs and light trolling for striped bass and bluefish with 40lb braid. What size Evict do you think would be best suited?
1 Answer
Hi Chris, Based on your fishing applications I would recommend a Tsunami TSEVT5000 Evict Spinning Reel. Specifically Model: TSEVT5000; TD Code: TSU-0281. However, since this reel is on backorder I would also recommend a Daiwa SALTIST5000 Saltist Spinning Reel. Specifically Model: SALTIST5000; TD Code: DAI-2347. https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-saltist5000-saltist-spinning-reel.html This reel is very smooth and has alot of line capacity and the drag needed to fight large stripers and bluefish. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
