best rod brand out there for the price
July 17, 2018
hey are literally manufactured around the corner from where i live ( less than 5 miles) in Mahwah NJ and are truly fantastic. I would recommend this company to anyone, plain and simple. This is my current pole from bottom fishing to Mahi Mahi and even smaller sharks. I even caught a 300+lb shark on my tsunami reel rated for 40 lb and my tsunami pole rated for 80-100 pound line in a chum slick 10 ft from the boat and wrenched him in. My father went out and bought a $300 custom rod years back for it's lightness and sensitivity, but when i handed him my rod to hold so i could get a sandwich, he he wouldn't give it back and went out and bought one of these. The thing is so sensitive you can literally feel the types of ocean floor terrain you are on, and distinguish bites from that, and also it is light as a feather.
Pros
  • Well worth the money. Very sensitive. Light as a feather. Strong poles. Very good looking.
Cons
  • Absolutely none. Best rod i have ever used, and i have used a lot!

Quality rod!

I purchased this during Tackle Directs Flash sale on the Airwave elite and purchased it for about 78 Dollars in total with the shipping etc etc. The very following week I took it out on a private charter trip for Tautog (blackfish up north) in DE. It was GREAT! I've tried out some really nice custom Rods before ( Lamiglas, Rod Geek, Black hole) so I know what I'm comparing it to. Of course at retail this is a 140 dollar rod and I'm comparing it to $300 - $400 customs but feel on the hand, back bone, action all was very satisfying for the price. Even at full retail I'd buy this with no regret. Tsunami makes some great stuff.
Pros
  • Bang for Buck
  • Quality build
  • Great for heavy duty wreck fishing
Cons
  • None

Love Tsunami Airwaves Elite Rods
April 15, 2017
This is my 4th Tsunami Airwave Elite series rod, I've paired this one with my Avet G2 SXJ MC 5.3. I absolutely love the combination awesome for bottom fishing. You're not fighting the rod you're definitely the fishing. Love the action on this rod it has plenty of backbone. I also own 2 Airwaves Elite Surf rods and another offshore rod. Can't say enough about this rod excellent value at a respectable price point.

  • Lightweight
  • Sensitive

Light weight and powerful

I bought this rod to pair it up with a penn torque 25 for big snook by bridges and piers. I needed something light and durable but with enough backbone to pull a big snook away from structure. This rod more than fits the bill, it's nothing short of perfect. I'm sure it would be perfect for reef fishing as well.

Good Bottomfishing Rod!
December 21, 2015
Lightweight, sensitive and strong. Excellent rod for Blackfishing and most likely most inshore bottom and wreck dwellers. Used it for the first time off Belmar NJ last weekend for Blackfish and I had no problem feeling the bergal bites or the tog tugs. Setting the hook wasn't an issue either as this rod has plenty of backbone to get the job done. I now own 4 Tsunami rods and love all of them. At this price point, this rod will be tough to beat.
If you're looking for a reasonably priced rod that can deliver like the more expensive models, look no further than the elite braid series of rods from Tsunami.
Pros
  • Sensitive
  • Plenty backbone for hook setting
  • lightweight for all day bottomfishing comfort
  • looks good.
Cons
  • none

Great Bottom Fishing Rod!
December 14, 2015
Used it for Blackfishing for the first time at Belmar, NJ. Paired with a Daiwa Lexa400HS-P Baitcaster, 8oz lead and 50#PP. This rig easily held up to some nice sized blackfish. No problem at all pulling them up out of the wreck. No problem feeling Begalls pecking at the crabs either so I knew pretty much when to swing. Its light so I felt no fatigue even after being at the rail for most of the day. Looks good as well. For most inshore fishing, this rod probably is one of the best options at this price point.

Good quality, GREAT PRICE!
Pros
  • Light, sensitive, very strong..
Cons
  • none

Fight the fish not the rod
November 28, 2014
I have mine paired with a fin nor marquesa 16 great for trolling for salmon here In michigan can't wait to battle some saltwater species come spring. The rod is light and powerful with good eyes and a comfortable rounded gimbal.
The glass appears good but not completely overdone like some other rods I have.
Pros
  • Light, powerful good eyes, rounded gimbal
Cons
  • A little narrow fore grip when compared to airwave model

1 Answer
The guides are slightly wider but not by much, most conventional rods are made this way with the smaller guides.
