This Trilene Big Game line by Berkley has incredible strength for confidence and control in your angling. This line is also shock resistant with a controlled stretch that adds to the fighting power in the line. Berkley Trilene Big Game line is also extra tough along with abrasion resistant to hold up tough against rough/sharp objects. This line has outstanding knot strength for durable holding power. This line will hold up for what you need for fishing and catching the big ones.

My Go-To for 20+ Years - Fishing the Northeast
March 13, 2022
For stripers, blues, flounder, fluke, blackfish, porgy - Trilene Big Game in the dark green color has been my go-to for bait and weight fishing in the Northeast. I've taken 3-foot blues on it, as well as dogfish and sand sharks with no breaks. The line color is perfect most of the time to camouflage in the Atlantic Ocean, Raritan Bay, etc. It's tough and it casts well.
Pros
  • Solid tough, monofilament that casts well. For distance casting, recommend a shock leader 10x in lbs the weight of your sinker (i.e. 5 oz sinker - use 50-lb shock leader). For 2 oz or less, the main line is good enough.
Cons
  • Like any monofilament, Trilene Big Game is not the best for fishing with artificial lures, or any bait fishing where you're holding the rod.

Great Line
November 22, 2019
Been using this for last 20 years for my surf fishing trips to the beach. Holds up well under highly abrasive conditions, and rubbing lines with other fisherman. Still retains its fighting strength. While my kid is constantly chasing after the latest and greatest, I find this line a consistently excellent product and will continue to use.l

Always liked mono for rockfishing
November 28, 2018
Have my older Penns and beater and guest poles lined with it, due to the fact if they get snagged and have to cut the line it is a lot cheaper. Definitely more abrasion resistant, so while fishing off the beach, in muscle beds, or rocky areas in general you don't have to worry about the line cut off like you do with braid. Mono will last you a pretty long time so that a good thing. When it does eventually wear out you can unspool it and re spool it from the side that was touching the saltwater in order to get brand new line that has never seen salt water. Because it has a stretch to it though, it's sometimes harder to get your hook set.

The line is great for surf fishing, but the 50lb spools are great for leaders very strong and abrasion resistant.

Works great for the price

I still find myself using this stuff, it just works. great filler spools and for loading up trolling outfits, making leaders, bottom fishing in junk piles. Sometimes you still need some good tough mono. Or when that shark just took all your braid off your favorite reel....yeah, great backup to reload.
