Little pricey but still a lot cheaper than a new trolling set up

Better than diving for your trolling gear

Use it, it works. Especially important on rough days when the bite gets hot and you are trolling 12 poles by yourself.

Heavy Duty Reel Safety Line
September 2, 2021
This is a Heavy Duty safety line that protects your rig from going overboard. While running hard, one wrong bounce can send your reel over the gunwale. Or while fighting that big fish, and you lose your grip. Great addition to any serious fishing boat.
Pros
  • Easy to use, heavy duty construction, comes with a reel clip
Cons
  • None

Inshore & offshore use
February 2, 2021
A must have for striper fishing inshore, especially from a cramped center console cockpit. The coil memory has lasted for years.
Also good to use offshore on our center rigger and WTFB rods. Almost lost a complete outfit when the release clip didn't pop. That would have been an expensive lesson.
Pros
  • Plastic coated cable, good coil memory, good to go right out of the package.
Cons
  • None I can think of.

Good option
March 23, 2020
Much better option than losing a rod/reel/fish but I think this could have been made a little more compact as some boats may have limited cockpit space.

Best option available
July 7, 2017
These are the best option for securing the piles to the boat. It gives you the peace of mind that you will not lose your gear but is very functional when a fish is on. There is enough room to move around the back of the boat without disconnecting the clip.

My favorite trolling leash
June 22, 2017
This is, in my opinion, the best trolling safety line for spoons, plugs, and umbrella rigs. It is strong, stretches well and keeps your cockpit clutter free. I have a 20 foot boat and these are perfect for trolling for big stripers, bluefish etc. They keep the relatively small cockpit clean and out of the way.

Are these sturdy enough for heavy offshore outfits with 50s and 80s? How large is the loop that attaches to the cleat? Thanks
1 Answer
Hi Charles, According to Tony Maja, The Tony Maja Trolling Safety Line can withstand over 50 lbs of pressure and can be used for offshore 50 and 80W's size reels. The loop is large enough to fit almost any boat cleat. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

This line clips to the reel lugs, and you should be able to clip it to most reels.
